Contributed by D¨¢vid Bred¨¢nTourbillons have come a long way during the past 200+ years of their existence. That time has proven sufficient to provide major ups and downs ¨C and more than one full life cycle for this fairy invention.Beyond those everyday complications which we take for granted, such as the date and the chronograph, I believe it is the tourbillon that remains for the beginner watch lover to get acquainted with. This statement should hold true even more so if considering the latter years of the new millennium, when it has become extremely difficult to find a brand which wouldn¡¯t want to take the (continuously waning) advantage of the tourbillon in terms of distinguishing power. Before discussing causes briefly, let¡¯s quote Jerome Lambert, chief executive of Jaeger-LeCoultre: "A tourbillon is a must; if you're a watchmaker now, you have to be able to master one complication and it has to be the tourbillon, because it is very visible". Swatch Group, Tiffany form watch alliance December 03, 2007 New York¡ªThe Swatch Group Ltd. and Tiffany and Co. announced today a strategic alliance to further the development, production and worldwide distribution of Tiffany-brand watches. Under the agreements, Swatch Group will incorporate a new watch-making company in Switzerland, which will be authorized to use Tiffany's trademarks and operate under the Tiffany name. The watch company will be wholly owned by Swatch Group. Tiffany will participate in the watch company's before-tax profits and in its governance, through one seat on its board of five directors and seats on both the product design and marketing committees. Many of Tiffany's notable watch designs will be continued and new designs will be added. The distribution of the new watches will be made through the Swatch Group distribution network (Swatch group affiliates, Swatch Group retail facilities and third-party distributors), as well as through Tiffany stores. Can anyone help me identify the Rolex I recently inherited from my father. The research I have indicates a 1966-67 date, however the pictures for the Oyster Perpetual Explorer do not match what I see online. All online pictures indicate a round "peace" symbol on the hour hand, however mine does not and it is a strait hour hand with a slight indentation in it. The serial number I have is 1016 2126150. I understand that it was purchased during the Vietnam War in Saigon at the U.S. Military base. Any help anyone could give me would be great.Thank you
