ETA to Cease Making Movements for Outside Watch Makers
Watch forums are a buzz over the fact that ETA will be halting all sales of it's movements to outside watch makers in 2010. ETA is a quasi government-owned company that designs and manufactures watch movements. Some of these go directly to its brands (such as Swatch), others are made in kit form and are sold to outside makers who place the movements in their own watches. The majority of decent automatic movements not made "in-house" by a manufacture, are ETAs. ETA also makes quartz movements.The creation of a new movement is a very complex and difficult task. After the years of design, more years are spent with testing and refinement. Even with normal daily variation, a watch movement must be over 99.99% accurate. My first Watch was arrived (Finally)
The moment of truth has come after waiting for over a week the first watch I have bought, my Orient Chief, has arrived. First much thanks to Valtyr and CometHunter for there guidance. Now onto the best part the pictures. The quality isnt on par with some of y'alls my camera is a couple years old but anyway. I love the guilloche and full word day.Overall I absolutely love it. The full word date is really cool and one of my favorite things about the watch. The band is a really light brown and when I first opened the box I wasn't sure how I felt about it but it is growing on me and now I feel that it really complements the watch. No pictures of the guts unfortunately I am too afraid to open it up. Thanks for looking.

Cartier Wristwatch
I would be interested in any information on this Cartier watch. It is stamped 18kt. I went to a Cartier dealer and they were not familiar with this model so they couldn't tell me any info on the name of the style.I looked on ebay and saw nothing like it from photos.Any idea on the value? I am looking at purchasing it. It is previously owned. Not running but has been sitting for 10 or more years. I'm sure it will need a full service.

Dials
I like blue dials.I have more black dials than blue.I also like orange and yellow dials and I own some white dialed watches.They are dials and I like the look that the different colors offer but I really don't go any further than the color.I own 2 MOP dials and rarely wear them and will most likely sell them as they are much to "jewelry looking" and don't really impress me as something that adds to the look of a wrist watch.I suppose if my intent were to be decorative in my watch wearing I would think otherwise but I like straight , to the point and relatively boring watches.That explains the lack of "compliments"!!

Although I love the way APs look I have never really though of getting one. However, recently I have been keeping an open eye and trying to educate myself about them.Coincidentally, yesterday an acquaintance contacted me knowing I am familiar with local and online sellers and was interested in selling his AP and wanted to make sure he would get a good deal as he is not well educated about the second hand/pre owned market. Honestly, neither am I when it comes to APs but I offered to help. I checked prices on watchrecon and Chrono 24 and kind of have an idea what the watch could fetch in its condition.
