IWC 1832 wrist watches news:
No not my watch collection but my non-watch Rolex collection. It's a marble Rolex display stand that will take pride of place on my desk.
Hello all,I'm new here and new to mechanical watches, or really watches in general. My wife and I were in a Fossil outlet yesterday and while she was looking at purses I saw an automatic skeleton in the case and just loved it. I didn't know anything about mechanical watches and this was purely an impulse buy. I know these are not great watches but I've enjoyed it so far and feel a new obsession coming on. :) Probably many of you here know what I'm talking about.Anyway, I've spent a few hours reading articles on how automatic mechanical watches work and have learned a lot so far. But I'd like to know more about my specific watch and haven't been able to find much. The watch I bought is a Fossil ME3013. I've attempted to take some pictures but my photography skills are lacking. I also included a picture taken from Fossil's website. It's a non-hacking automatic and, based on my attempt at observation, seems to beat at 6 bps. According to the silkscreening, its a 20-jewel chinese m
One thing I've noticed in some of my Elgins from the 1950s is that the dials are curved. Now, this would not be a problem if they'd sunk the sub-seconds dial, but they didn't. This means that the second hand, when it comes up to the top of its motion, will scrape the dial if you push it too far onto the post. However, if you don't push it far enough, it falls off at the slightest bump, especially on a 55 year old watch that's been serviced a number of times.I have Fried's 'Watch Repairer's Manual', where he describes tightening the pipe on second hands by placing the open end in a concave conical stake in your staking set, and tapping lightly. I'm sure this would do the trick, IF I had a staking set! But I don't. So, anyone have any ideas how to tighten the pipe without crushing it in the absence of a staking set?BTW, in the course of taking down a bunch of 1950's Elgins, I've noticed another, more insidious problem that the dial curvature thing causes - bent 4th wheel pivots. I
Hi Guys, My new hunt is for an Omega 2503.33 white dial w/ blue hands. I posted a WTB add in the classifieds but hoped you guys can supply me with some of your great pics until I can get my hands on one. If you have one to sell, let me know. Thanks!
My memory of my first goes like this...in a non AD jewelry store selling old gold jewelry . They store has been around for many years and has two locations. Anyway as they handed me the check for the gold, I wisecracked that I would put that towards my first Rolex. Even though I was the family watch lover, my wife, her sister and brother in law all got Rolex SS models before I had any Rolex . So the salesman says, hey, I have a few Rolex models in the back. Would you like to see them? I had been buying watches such as invicta, renato, citizen, seiko and a breitling but no rolex. I had een asking my wife but the timing always seemed off with other bills due. So, I deferred to my wife cause I knew if I said yes and then begged her to let me buy it, the doghouse would have my name on it. So he comes out with two, both 16613 subs. One was a bluesy but looked pretty beat up and the other was the one in my avatar, a two yone serti sub. It looked to be in realy good shape, but missing the fi
