Cartier WM501751 wrist watches news:
Welcome back to an original watches-dealer feature, "My First Grail Watch". In this series, we ask prominent people in the watch industry about the first timepiece that they lusted after. Today, we're talking with a man who got his start restoring vintage chronographs, and is now ?the Creative Director of Ernst Benz - Leonid Khankin.watches-dealer (ABTW): Who are you and what is your relationship to the watch industry? Leonid Khankin (LK): I am the Creative & Managing Director of Ernst Benz. I am also a second generation watchmaker who grew up doing restoration, specializing in chronographs and complications. It was always my aspiration to build watches which came true when I took the helm of Ernst Benz. Now I live my watch making and creative dream building watches with my friends and have the privilege to present them in some of the most amazing stores in the world.ABTW: What was your first grail watch?LK: I was always captivated by and very passionate about chronographs and cale
Omega's game of cat and mouse with the present and past continues. The last several sport watches they released seem to have at least one leg (from a design perspective) in the past. This new Speedmaster Broad Arrow Co-Axial watch isn't that much different. It is like a modern man in a vintage Armani suit that still looks pretty good today. The Broad Arrow Speedmaster watch has been around for a long time. The point of the name? Well compared to your standard Omega Speedmaster Professional watch the Broad Arrow has.well, it has a broad minute hand and an arrow hour hand. And to think that Broad Arrow just sounded like a cool name for a Speedmaster.Aside from this new for 2010 look, the "Speedmaster Broad Arrow" name doesn't get any embellishment. The case size is a generous 44.25mm wide in steel (likely to be gold version as some point) and uses the same case shape that Omega has been using for these watches forever. I like how even in a large size, the case shape still looks quite nic
On a whim, I ordered a current manufacture Gruen with an ETA auto movement, sapphire crystal, stainless case, and leather strap. It is basically a recreation of the classic Curvex. Here's a photo borrowed from the seller.Gruen Brown Dial.jpg
Hi, question for you guys, I got my estimate from Omega today for service on my 2592.54 SMP. Its only 7 years old. They(Swatch Group) want 896.00 for full service on this watch. This includes new crown, new hands, new gaskets, overhaul the 3301 movement and polish the few scratches off the case and bracelet. The hands in my opinion were fine, Finks told me the lume was starting to peel and were afraid pieces would get into the movement. Original dial to remain. Is this a fair estimate or am I getting hosed? Granted its a genuine overhaul but jeeez!!! If I knew where else I could send it I might tell Omega to send it back. Any help appreciated and thanks in advance. AL
I love PPs. They are stunning and gorgeous. I really have an itch one. i can afford a 5167a now, but have to save for the 5167r (it could be several years). Given my collection (SS Daytona, SS milgauss GV and breitling SuperOcean on a rubber strap), what should I do?? I won't trade any of my current watches to raise $$.
