Prices are crazy and people are asking fortunes for junk watches.This Wakefied luckily went unnoticedFirst, thanks again to Genejockey, I actually know the name of this watch because I searched his newspaper ad collection that features Elgins. There is something satisfying about knowing the name of the watch that you are collecting. The ad showcases 1954 models. Note that it went for $57 when new!The movement is the manual wind 670 with 21 jewels. Ranfft says it is a 15/0 size, has heartbeat of 18,000 bph and a power reserve of 50 hours. He even notes that is produced from 1950 through 1955. 188,000 units were made!The case measures 30mm from 10 to 4. Here's the movement:The 14K gold filled case:The back:On the wrist:

In the past month or two I've noticed that the prices for Zenith Daytonas seem to be on the rise. Whereas one could be had for around $8-9.5k a couple months ago, it now seems these are trading hands for $10-11k+. Has anyone else noticed this trend? I'm guessing this is a direct result of the discontinuation of 116520.
