In virtually all the watch auctions I see, Patek Philippe watches are of the most common "high yield" lots. It amazes me that even Patek Philippe watches that are just a few years old auction for more than the retail price. This is certainly not the case with most watches, but it can safely be said that Patek Philippe watches are 'investment grade.' To a degree it is difficult to determine which watches will be worth the most. This depends on many factors, but the good news is that virtually all limited edition Patek Philippe watches DO retain value very well.Here is a very nice classically styled Calatrava homage watch, the Ref. 5565. The watch was released as a limited edition of 300 in 2006 in celebration of the newly opened boutique (at the time) in Geneva on Rue de Rhone. On the rear of the stainless steel watch is a delicate engraving of the building with the commemorative description;?? "1839 - 1892 - 2006." A lot of history right there. Pre-owned Speedmasters and Japan
I've been wondering why so many pre-owner Speedmasters for sale seem to be offered by Japan-based sellers?Perhaps it's due to Japanese collectors continuing to feel their country's economic malaise? Maybe is just something more basic as a far greater were sold in Japan. Omega might have a superior image (good marketing) as an up-market image compared to their competitors.Any similar observations from members here, or is it just me?Cheers!

The Journey
Lately, I have been thinking about my watch journey and how I got to where I am today. I've been active in the watch world for about 10 years now and its been quite a fun journey. Been to a handful of watch GTGs over the years and have made some really good friends. My first nice watch I purchased on my honeymoon; a two tone Tag Heure Link Chronograph. Two years later purchased a Rolex 14060M to celebrate the birth of my daughter. After that it was off to the races and I have had over 100 watches since then. Thankfully I became friends with the DavidSWs and JustRolexes of the world and got to have fun with watches at rock bottom prices. I've even had the privilege of being around guys with vintage watches that costs hundreds of thousands of dollars. For awhile now I have really enjoyed Panerai. Greetings all from chilly Toronto! I'm a new member here but owned a 116710LN for 7 years before parting with it. After a couple year hiatus I've re-ignited my passion for Rolex. A Sunday trip to my nearest AD (suburban Toronto ) to ask about getting my wife's engagement ring reset led to a discussion about Rolex and my new AD friend asking to me to wait here for a minute...I have something to show you.
