TAG Heuer to Increase Movement-Manufacturing at New Site in Jura
TAG Heuer has announced that it is doubling its mechanical-chronograph movement manufacturing capacity by building a new site in Chevenez, in the Swiss Canton of Jura, which will create 100 jobs and be operational by the end of 2013. The site will produce the in-house Caliber 1887 mechanical chronograph that was launched two years ago, plus a brand-new caliber that TAG Heuer is developing. Currently, all of TAG Heuer’s in-house movements are made by the company at its facility in La Chaux-de-Fonds and at Cortech in Cornol. TAG Heuer also buys Swiss mechanical movements from Sellita, ETA, Dubois-Depraz, Soprod and Zenith. The company cited the reduction in supply announced by ETA ¡ª supported by the Swiss Competition Committee COMCO, through its provisional measures ¡ª and the additional volumes needed to meet its growth targets as reasons for manufacturing more mechanical movements in-house. After some serious consideration, and equal desire between the Pam 233 and the DSOTM, I made a decision and want to share it with you. Thanks for all the input when I was wondering about these two pieces. The 233 is still on my list, but will have to wait at least another year. Special thanks to Alfred (FNFZ4), one of the best trusted sellers on TRF. But on to the DSOTM! First impressions - it came in a very heavy and nicely finished black lacquered box. Very classy. The watch is stunning. It's black and its beautiful. It's shiny, but only when its reflecting light (I'm sure at the boutique, under all those lights it must really dazzle and shine, but under normal lighting and outdoors, it is perfectly balanced.) The sides of the case have a brushed finish whereas the front part of the lugs (where the it curves) is polished. It's not as large as i thought it would be. Speedmaster Racing lume
Thought I might try capturing a lume shot.. interesting result! To my eyes, the lume looks green - but whenever I took a photo it always came out blue.I tried fiddling around with white balance, but it always came out blue. Bizarre. I tried with both my old, crappy canon point and shoot and with my iphone. Same result.Anyway, here's the shot.

Omega SMP and the beach...
Thinking of taking my Seamaster professional with me to Mallorca. Is there a risk of getting sand under the bezel? From what I understand, the bezel is not easily removed on your own. Maybe I should take the submariner instead, so I can remove the bezel if it gets sand under it? Or am I overthinking this... ?
