Hublot 715.CI.1123.RX wrist watches news:
In Tokyo today, I saw several new SS Daytonas for just at or under US MSRP. That's under MSRP before the 5% tax free discount given to travelers. The strong yen and the recession apparently are really having a significant impact. Several apparently barely used SS Daytonas were far under MSRP.
So a friend posted this watch in another communities 'what's on your wrist' thread and I can not seem to find it anywhere, much less identify it. I really like the watch though and would love to find one so any help from you lot is appreciated. Here is a picture, obviously this is not the stock strap (I have permission from Alex to use this pic)He says that this is printed on the back:H500-S062519I can see it is an Eco-Drive Chronograph and can find similar watches on Amazon but not the same, any help is appreciated!
The horological heavens are vast. But where do the brands fall in?Before we start, let's remember the answers are just opinions. No one (except me :D) is correct!OVER-RATED1. Rolex (in a global sense, not for particular watches).2. Patek (makes fine stuff, but used trickery and dubious auction techniques to prop up vintage values to increase brand luster).UNDER-RATED1. Seiko (doesn't get the credit it deserves for innovation, quality and craftsmanship).2. Movado (yes, this is an odd choice. But the fit and finish is generally very, very good. We watch geeks smack this brand around because they're primarily quartz).3. TAG (sort of the sporting man's Movado, with automatic movements thrown in).Your turn.
I've finally narrowed down my options but can't decide and would love your opinions --I'd like to cap my collection at ~20K, so buying pre-owned, this decision will exhaust the budget. I like all 3 watches a lot. I can see the jumbo is special, but have to admit I am a little nervous I would eventually tire of the 2-hand layout without any discernible movement on the dial. FWIW, the only other watch I would keep is a DJ that was a gift. Is the jumbo so good that I should give up the versatility of a 3 watch collection?Thoughts appreciated!
Back story-This AD sells a lot of watches. Has been an AD for nearly 40 years. Is the owner. This AD also attends Baselworld each year. #1. He had an amazing selection. The only really notable exception was Daytona’s. He had all explorer and sub variants as well as 2 Batman, Sea Dweller, James Cameron, etc. His sense was that Rolex was not limiting supply. He had stock so it was hard to refute his opinion. He also didn’t believe there was going to be price increases, and he did not believe watches would be upgraded with newer movement or phased out entirely. He didn’t believe there was a need to rush to buy anything. He thought this year would bring some interesting releases but would not elaborate other than he didn’t think one needed to rush a purchase for fear of missing out. He also doesn’t give huge discounts but 10% off msrp is fair for him, I was just stunned that he was willing to give a discount at all considering all the horror stories online. I
