Cartier W51008Q3 wrist watches news:
What a awesome site.So I bought this back in 1981, at a small antique store, on my way back to Marine Corps base in 29 Palms. It was in a box with three other watch heads, and I wanted the Timex self winder.I wore the Timex through the rest of my enlistment.I was going through my safe the other day, and came upon the box.I never really looked at the other watches, but now a little wiser and a lot older. This watch head intrigued me, I want to get it cleaned up/restored.This forum seems to be where newbies come for answers or no answers......The crown turns but won't wind, face looks fair as far as I can tell because the crystal is pretty beat up, luminous paint isn't.Thank You.Any info would be appreciated.IMG_2088.jpgIMG_2089.jpgIMG_2090.jpgIMG_2091.jpg
Hi all,This is my first time dealing with '1st March' with my 5146 and have a couple questions - some are theoretical so I hope you'd humor me Supposing the watch shows 28th Feb today, if it is left 'uncorrected' would it display 29 tomorrow, 30th and 31st thereafter? The reason I ask is that I like to always set the time/date of the watch to the previous day and using the hour/min hands, move across midnight into the 'day' I'm setting the time for. Therefore, I have two options for setting my 5146:1) as per the manual, simply adjust the time to a safe spot (6am for example, outside the 8pm-2am and 9am-11am date/moonphase activation zones), then simply push the date to the 1st, which should cause the month wheel to switch over to March as well. Updating the rest is straightforward.2) First set to 6am (or stay in a safe spot), then set the date to 31st February (month setting is left untouched). Now, pop the crown out and move the hour hand through midnight rolling over to the 1st. T
I want to thank you for your help yesterday with my Hamilton Captain Rice watch. I will be selling this watch on ebay, but the last time my husband wore it he said it was working and now it doesn't. It feels tight when I try to wind it, so I am leaving it alone. My question to you collectors and dealers is, do I pay to have someone restore/repair it or should I leave it alone and let who ever buys it have it fixed? Do collectors and dealers prefer to have their own watch repair man fix it?
