I seem to recall seeing battery life on the Bulova Precisionist estimated at one year. Can anyone confirm if this is accurate? I am intrigued by the watches, but a year seems pretty short. Although, for something that runs 24/7/365, it's not bad in the grand scheme of things. Plus, if it isn't a dive watch it's not that expensive to have a battery changed. Also, anyone know if there is any kind of end-of-life battery warning on the Precisionist? I don't really mind quartz if it has a decent end-of-life indicator. A charge meter would be nice, but would it add to the drain of the battery?Lastly, it seems that watches is one of the rare hobbies wherein new technology isn't valued so much. If it were, either the Eco-Drives with bluetooth or solar atomic would have far more representation on forums!
Did you see the movie?.youtube/watch?v=Lk_R04LfUQUOne of my dreams is to own a sailboat.. When the moment arrives, I know that the first thing I'll buy will be a Breitling Emergency
The new 5990.... when I first saw it I was delighted.............then I saw the video. While I admire the potential value of this piece to travellers, I cannot bring myself to come to terms with the bloated pushers and (formerly) hinge detail on the crown side. We see iterations of classic designs in all spheres of life and, usually, this comes with a increase in size. There comes, though, a point where the original concept and elegance has evolved into an entirely new product. The elegant 5711 morphed over time into the 5980 which, on its own merits, has become a most admired and classic piece. It retains the original DNA of the Nautilus. Somehow, I feel this has been abandoned with the advent of the 5990. There has always been some crossover between the Nautilus and Aquanaut with the 5164 filling an increasingly important niche in the market. Perhaps it is just the Modernist in me rebelling and I am willing to be convinced otherwise, but I am finding this release somewhat bemusing
