Dinner Question
It seems a little slow on the WTF lately....figured I would throw out a question that I have pondered on occasion. If you could have dinner with one person (past or present) from the world of watches who would it be and why?For me it used to be H. Wilsdorf for obvious reasons. But I would say it has become Patrick Heiniger. I am curious what could possibly have happened to cause him to give up his and his family's legacy at the head of Rolex. Aside from being one of only 3 people (and the only one still alive) to ever lead Rolex until his aforementioned exit, I would love to discuss his vertical integration strategy - which I believe was a stroke of genius in the prelude to the recent economic crisis and watch industry contraction. Despite the rumors regarding Rolex's financial condition, I believe his foresight positioned Rolex to weather the storm and emerge stronger than ever on the other side.-Ross

Need help identifying price
I need some help figuring out the value of this watch, and its possibility of being fake since I can't find the same looking model anywhere. I also posted in the Rolex forum to see about one there, and will do the same in the Breitling forum if anyone has any info about those.obviously one side of the band is missing, so I'm sure that doesn't help its worth any hehThe face says Omega Speedmaster Co-Axial Chronometer, the clasp on the band says Omega Speedmaster Professional and the backplate says Speedmaster Broad ArrowOther than the band missing, the watch seems to be about perfect.

WHat is the very best price youve ever seen 2531.80 for?
I have the opportunity to pick up a 2531.80 tomorrow. Lets say it is one of those rare oppurtunities that make you suspect that there is something really wrong with the watch.I have been assured that it was purchased from an AD, although the box and papers are gone the sales invoice is available.I have been assured that it has been worn very few times since bought new and that it keeps perfect time.My question is this... I was told the original sales invoice shows that the watch was purchased for $1200 in 1996.Does this even remotely sound accurate, I cant find any information pertaining to retail prices from that period.Again, my question is... what is the cheapest one of these SHOULD be sold for today in very good/ good condition?Thanks in advance...
