I’ve been thinking of doing a thread like this for a while, kind of an inside view into the head of a compulsive vintage watch collector. This will detail one month’s purchases from the auction to the final on the wrist results. Might interest some of you. Might be enlightening to some who are just starting down the path to addiction. Might hit a little close to home for others. It will likely be a long post so anyone intolerant of rambling or who might be disturbed by the ugly underbelly of our hobby will want to change the channel.First the Ebay score:22 auctions won:$481.47 in bids $141.66 in shipping (items from Italy, England and Israel)Grand total $623.12Not an unusual month. OK, I should have not done this but last week I bought a Stuhrling Sportsman 'Raven Diablo' Automatic Watch. I figured that it had a Japanese movement (Miyota I would assume) and it should be OK. The postman just brought the package, I opened it and gave the watch a few side to side movements to get it up and running and to my surprize the seconds hand moves backwards. I could figure out if the hands fell off but backwards? Of course I will work to get this transaction resolved but my question is: HOW CAN WATCH HANDS MOVE BACKWARDS? Thanks.
Got it today
So my wife and I went into a local sub shop yesterday after mass to grab a sandwich before a hike. On the way in I noticed a Bentley Convertible. As I walked in I started trying to guess who was driving the Bentley. As I was walking to my seat i noticed a youngish guy wearing a 36mm white dial DD and told my wife that is the one. Sure enough he was the one....what is it about nice watches going with nice rides?
