We like good Breitling, and the new Transocean Chronograph doesn't disappoint. This model hankers for its roots a bit more than its predecessor with a vintage-feeling scheme and a simpler dial layout. Best of all, and unlike the earlier model, the Transocean Chronograph features a sapphire case back to showcase manufacture wares. 2 OF 4 The new model starts off with a 43 mm case (foreshadowing what's inside) in highly-polished stainless steel with steeply curved lugs. Like most Breitlings, you're bound to feel every millimeter of it. The dial has what Breitling calls "twinzone silver d¨¦cor," but it's more along the lines of champagne in color. Surprise - an unexpected 'new' watch
Well I thought I had done my dash for 2008, but while browsing the watch display at a pawn shop I found a diamond in the rough. Nestled among the old and battered watches, mostly g-shocks & citizens of yesteryear, was a Tissot PRC 200 quartz chronograph. The case was filthy, scratched and dinged, with one dent in particular of concern. I had a close look and noticed that it did not touch the (sapphire) crystal, which appeared to be in perfect condition. The stainless steel bracelet was scratched and worn, but not damaged in any way I could see. Also, the chrono hands (stopwatch) would not return to zero when the stopwatch was reset. I've seen this plenty of times before and knew it would be an easy fix, but I suspect the shop thought it was faulty.It seems to be a current model (I found one that looked identical in a Jeweller's today), and retails for $925 (NZD).I managed to get the shop down to $250, and headed home with my 'prize.'Here are some pics of the watch, as bought yester

AP reliability...your views please...
I am looking at getting my collection of Rolex down from 6 to 2 or 3, and then entering the rarified world of AP and PP. I'm liking the 15400 and the ROC, and also the PP 5167 and 5164.It may be my imagination, but I seem to read an awful lot about AP having serious problems of reliability. We don't appear to see the same thing over on the PP forum.Any comments from you knowledgable Gentlemen?
