A Patek Philippe Caliber 89 sold for $5,042,000 (SFr.5,120,000) at Antiquorum’s 35th Anniversary sale held November 14 and 15 at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Geneva. The selling price exceeded the pre-sale estimate of 4.5 to 5 million Swiss francs. Patek created 4 examples of the Caliber 89 in 1989 to mark the company’s 150th anniversary. So I thought my friend had bought a new Sub. It had a cyclops yet the bracelet was...
brushed AND polished like a new Daytona or YM bracelet. It confused me, as I was never that physically close to him to see it head on. I didn't comment on his new Rolex, I wanted to be casual about it. I was hoping he might say something about it but he didn't. It really surprised me that his new Sub had a polished bracelet. I had seen him 3 times that week and on the 3rd time I noticed something odd about the dial - it appeared to not be a Rolex after all. It seemed to have some sort of eagle design or something like that where the Rolex crown would be and it didn't say Rolex at all after closer inspection. It didn't seem to say anything. I couldn't believe it. It wasn't a Sub after all but a watch that was made to look just like a Submariner. I'm really glad I didn't say something earlier in the week like "You have great taste in watches" or "Nice Sub". Help trying to get info on a rare ELGIN POCKET WATCH
hello all .. i am new to this site and dont know if this is were i should post this but here goes i have a old elgin pocket watch i think 1920 Railroad Watchi have been looking at e-bay and on the net for a long time now and i cant seem to find anything on this model .. there are a few close to it but not the same ...i live in a small town so not too many place to bring it to ...i think it is a rear model as i have found a lot of them but none are like this one what i have found out is from the watch it's self {see pics} B.
