Can't believe I found one
This is my first post in the forum, but far from the first time I'm in here.Since I graduated from Uni in 2007, I had promised my self 'an award' of some kind, and it didn't take long to decide that it had to be watch.But time flies, and suddenly the calendar shows 2009, and a lot of things are going on right now; I've recently proposed to my girlfriend, we're becoming parents in January and we've just moved from a tiny appartment into our dream house.So I decided, that there couldn't be a better time than now to get a watch that would be marking this year forever.Hmm but 'forever'? Then I guess the watch needed to be a classic time piece that will still look good 20 years from now.Having done some research, I finally decided on an Omega Seamaster. The Rolex submariner was also a contender. But the Rolex brand just doen't do it for meSo a seamaster it was.The SMP 'bond' version, was one of the best whatches I could find, in terms of size, price, design and quality. So the decision was

Hi allI have been climbing around the back room where I keep all the junk and came across a box of watch bits. In the box was a package I won from an auction I went to last year. Paid about ?10 for an "assortment of watches". and forgot all about them. Remember, nothing has been done to them and some a scary. The contents are as follows:1. MuDu 25J doublematic, plaque 10G then what looks like HPF in a polygon. Has a Felsa 4007N movement so according to Ranfft around 1955 quick search reveals nothing about the company except the word Blancpain being thrown about. My mechanical knowledge is no good, but when you turn the winder, quite a few of the cogs turn and not the usual click, but a grate as if winding up a toy, but it runs.2. Allaine 25J Automatic again 10G and a T in an upside down triangle and again using a 4007N movement and looks like this Automatic Movement Allaine Swiss Watch c.1960s but not working3. A pocket watch is born
A friend of mine sent me the link to a short film made in the 1910s or early 1920s in France showing how a pocket watch is born. These kind of films were relased on behest of the French government in order to educate the masses. They were shown in the local cinemas all over the country before the main film started according to my friend who is into these kind of things.Nice trait of the author to ask Maria Callas to intonate a piece composeb by Giacomo Puccini as soundtrack.So relax and enjoy.
