M¨¹hle Glash¨¹tte is no stranger to making tough and unique dive watches, as we saw in our review of the S.A.R. Rescue Timer. Their interests, however, go beyond the depths of the sea and into land and air too. While pilot watches are a very common thing (surprisingly common when you think of how many people are actually pilots¡­), watches that are designed for land sports, by which I mean biking, hiking, etc¡­ are oddly less common. With their Terranaut Trail line, M¨¹hle has set out to make watches for this very purpose.With designs inspired by pilot's watches, the Terranaut's have a restrained and attractive look with an emphasis on legibility. Big hands and markers, all in khaki, are the signature of the line adding an earthiness to the palette that speaks to their purpose. Your "Can't Live Without It" Watch...
I have a modest collection of watches; autos and quartz, numbering about dozen or so. Well, maybe a few more than that.Last night, my wife commented on the "need" versus the "desire" for watches. She has absolutely no problem with the fact that I collect them. She just kinda' chuckles and rolls her eyes when I do.It got me thinking, though. I'm not sure which watch I would select if, for whatever reason, I was put in the position of having to choose only one watch to wear for the next, say, two years.I think I would probably lean towards the SMP, but I'm not certain. The Oris Williams F1 would be another strong consideration (well, if I put the bracelet on it).Some of you maniacs have huge collections. What would you decide on?

Complications...which ones do you want in your watch?
I have 2 chronographs. One of them has the tachymeter and telemeter scales on the bezel. I've no idea what to do with these features. I don't time boiled eggs in the kitchen with my telemeter scale. These are just a couple interesting extra buttons that look cool. One of my watches has a GMT/24hour hand. Got me on that one too. Wazzit for? I bought these watches because I liked the way they looked. Not very clever, but still a valid method of picking. I like complications, but I want some that I can find a use for so here's my list.1. three center hands, hour minute & second.2. Day month and date large enough to see like on the Khaki or Chronoswiss3. power reserve. I forget to wind or don't wear often so this I find helpful on every watch that has one.4. exhibition back. I like to watch da watch.5. I like numbers on the dial, indicators are okay, but I like numbers.6. I like contrast between the back and the hands so it's easy to read.
