Old Patek Philippe pocket watch
I inherited my Grandfather's Patek Philippe pocket watch and I would imagine it's from the 1940's era. It is a wind up (if that's what you call them) and I'm wondering how often I should wind it. My Grandfather passed away in 1963 and I have had it in a bank vault for many of those years. I'm 65 so decided I might as well enjoy it.

Well I had my eyes on this one since the first time I saw a picture of it in one of the forums some months ago. I am not really a quartz watch guy but for some reason this model caught my attention and I really liked the overall look of this watch. So I had only to wait for it to surface on the watch sales forum for a price that was affordable for me, it became my Valentine present from my wife including the matching strap.Of course taste is taste and some might discount a watch like this from the start. I know because I did that for a while, I was simply turned off by the plasic case and black color and the fact that the earlier models looked more like small rubber tires on people's arms at least in my view. However after owning two Casio ProTrek Solar watches, I know that they are capable of good quality products and I am happy to say that I am not disappointed in the least. This is a fantastic watch. 5980 discontinued - WHY?
Anyone know why the 5980 steel was discontinued? I've recently been pondering if i should move my 26320OR for a steel 5980 or a 5726 but come to find out they aren't produced anymore.

Thoughts about first Patek purchase
