More than 20 watch brands will be displaying new timepieces, including two distinctive boutique brands from Germany, M¨¹hle Glash¨¹tte and MeisterSinger.The highlight watch for family-owned Muhle is the new Robert M¨¹hle Auf/Ab, which adds a new complication to the brand’s collection. The watch’s name comes from its “Auf/Ab” circular power-reserve indicator at 12 o’clock, which displays to the wearer how much of the watch’s 56-hour power reserve remains before it stops. In the classical Glash¨¹tte watchmaking tradition, “Auf” (meaning “up”) means that the movement is fully wound, while “Ab” (“down”) means that is has fully run down. Right before I wrote this article I was fortunate enough to actually meet with Franc Vila himself. He showed me a selection of watches from his collection, including the Cobra models that I wrote about for AskMenwatches-dealer (see link below). It was interesting that I met with the man who made a watch I was about to write about. I was literally assigned to write about the watch a few hours before I met him, so it was a total coincidence really. He is a charismatic fellow who is more a watch enthusiast turned watch company owner as opposed to being a introverted watch maker like the hardcore fellows. He has a deep connection with the designs and a close relationship with his customers. What amazed me about the watch is just how solid they felt. If you've ever picked up a watch that felt like lots of pieces put together, you'll now what I mean. The Franc Vila watches feel like one solid piece. I am in a cross road regarding this purchase, because of its age, its 30 years old pretty much and all it comes is watch and nothing elseThe seller said watch had its gasket replaced about 3-4 years ago, not fully serviced.The watch is genuine Rolex and its a transitional model before it was known as GMT II.we agreed om price of $2500.00 but I never bought a old watch such as this GMT before.what type of expanses am I looking at after I get this watch, the watch is rated at 85%-90% as is now.knowing I could spend extra $1k-$1500 in this market and get a much newer model and having no experiences dealing with so called vintage watches, can you help me with some input on value on this type of watch.thanksJohn
