How it all started.
It all started when I was ten.( 1977) I remember lusting after a Timex LCD digital watch that my friend Ricky had gotten for this birthday.I had had wind up watches but this was NEW. My dad had always been a pseudo watch guy and recently gotten a Seiko LED watch that amazed everyone.( he still has it)Anyhow for my tenth birthday I got the Timex! I cannot remember not ever wearing a watch since then.The years went on and on Christmas 1984 I got a Seiko quartz TT watch, just like my dad had gotten several months earlier. I was a Senior in high school and it made me feel very adult.In college I ended up dabbling in "fake Gucci" watches for extra dough, HOWEVER, my good friend who supplied these items of question also got a lot of "duty free" Seikos. That was my first auto diver, which was worn for many, many years.About this time I started looking at what I call serious watches, because he ( my friend) wore a real Rolex (as did my boss). Is the Lemania 8810 the thinnest three-hand-plus-date automatic movement ever?
So, I am expecting the arrival any moment of an Ebel 1911 with a Lemania 8810 movement. Lemania bought this movement from Longines (where it was the L990) in the late 80's, and it has been used in a range of high-end watches, plus a few more mid-priced watches like the Ebel (and most recently a Nivrel). Now that Lemania is part of the Swatch again (since 1999), and has been renamed Manufacture Breguet, the movement is now found in certain Breguet models (but only, so far as I've been able to discover, as a tractor for complications, such as moonphase or chronographs), and has also been used again by Longines (again called the L990) in some reissues. This movement coming into my possession has me going on fresh research.The Lemania 8810/8815 is 2.95mm thick, in its complete form including a full rotor, central seconds hand, and date. I have variously (and conflictingly) read that this movement was 1.) the thinnest full-rotor auto on introduction in 1978 and for the following decade, 2.)

Warranty card for SD43
Hey folks- just trying to get some info as to why the one side of my warranty card for my SD43 looks a little bit different than others I¡¯ve seen for sale. Specifically, I¡¯ve seen ¡°97220¡± and ¡°black¡± appear below the model number on some of the other SD43s for sale. I¡¯m guessing this has to do with what country or area the watch was purchased from and are indicators for color of the dial and such.
