Corum 947.933.04 wrist watches news:
The original idea behind Minuteman watches (quite appropriately named) was for the pieces to be assembled in the United States by disabled war veterans. It was a good idea, given that disabled veterans are a laudable group to work with/benefit, and it is a great goal to give even a few who are out of work, work. Minuteman tried to work with an organization that deals with disabled veterans, but it didn't work out. I think it was pretty nasty. Nevertheless, Minuteman did not want to abandon the idea of making watches here in the US. So the end result is that some portion of the sale of the watches will go to a charity that benefits disabled veterans, and the watch will be produced in Ohio by LUM-TEC.More specifically, for the first round of production, a percentage of the profits (not sure how much) will go to the Gary Sinise foundation (I have to wonder if that has to do with the fact that he played a disabled veteran in Forest Gump). After that I think the brand will evaluate how well
GuysWith regret I have to announce that our amigo GJ has decided to step down from the admin team. GJ and his missus as many of you know have recently rejoiced in the birth of their second child and the pressing needs of a young family mean that he has to devote precious quality time to the children as they grow up.GJ joined us on the admin team in the spring of last year when we were all working to keep WTF together. His knowledgeable input, enthusiasm, love of watches, walks and music has enriched us all. GJ will still be with us, though in a more back seat role so we can still share in the fun of WTF with him.I'm sure you'll all wish to join John, Terry, the rest of the admin team and me in extending our thanks and best wishes to our amigo.Peace and Joy Brother Houston
I'm on holiday and was offered this new 2009 AP ROO from an AD for $17,000 (15% off retail of $20k) with no tax:.vialuxe/Audemars-Pigu...1/Watch/501428It's the new silvered dial with red accents on SS bracelet. And it has AP's new in-house movement. The watch is stunning but I am new to AP and am just not sure if 15% off is fair in this economy. I could easily get 20% off a Rolex, maybe even 25%. The AD of course told me that like Panerai, authorized dealers can not discount much off AP watches. Opinions on this deal?
I sold my Speedy Pro a few years ago in an attempt to reduce the number of watches and had been without an Omega for a while.Wasn't really looking to add anything else to the stable as I've been hunt on the for a RG Daytona. But had an opportunity to get back into the club and help out a colleague that was looking to unload a recent purchase so I pull the trigger on a vintage piece. It's a YG chrono with a satine silver dial with YG and black baton indexes; and a tachymeter scale - circa 1950s. At 35mm the YG and silver dial makes it a versatile piece that can easily double as a dress watch as well as something sporty.
I saw this white dial on a DD 40 Pt at the Rolex Boutique in Shinjuku yesterday and I don't remember seeing one before, though I understand they have been around for some time. Nice watch!
