Now gals and guysPlease hear me out on this The reason that the Omega Speedmaster Professional 3573.50 was not accepted by enthusiasts as being flight-qualified was because NASA had originally specified that it wanted hesalite as opposed to sapphire crystal on the Speedmaster. This was through a belief that should sapphire shatter, shards of glass would be distributed into the zero-gravity environment of the early Gemini and Apollo spacecrafts. However, the X-33 uses a sapphire crystal and it is flight-qualified. Under the circumstances shouldn't enthusiasts too accept that the 3573.50 should stand alongside the 3570.50 as being flight-qualified for manned space missions? I don't know if it would be accepted for EVAs ( extra vehicular activity ) since only the hesalite-fronted watch has been approved for that. But returning to my earlier proposition, I cannot see any reason why the 3573.50 should not be regarded by us here or indeed anyone as being as flight-qualified as the 3570.50 or t
Hello fellow AP'ers! Some of you might remember that I was torn between the 44 Ti and CE. Went to the boutique yesterday and decided to pick up this beauty.Thinking of letting go of my CE diver for its bigger brother. Not sure yet. But this will go into another thread. Have a great Sunday everyone!
I have an early 90's Speedmaster 3811.50.50 reduced/auto with the silver tach bezel. Is there a black replacement bezel for this model, and if so, what would the model number be? I looked on the Otto Frei site, but did not see one.thanks
Anyway, I thought I was sold on the Chocolate dial but now the MOP is growing on me. Any disadvantages to either? Both choices would have diamond markers and President bracelet. I like the ¡°different¡± look of the chocolate dial and it works so well with Everose but I¡¯m wondering if it would be limiting? I do have other watches in yellow, white and stainless. Thoughts? Sorry, I¡¯m too new to post links and cannot downsize my screenshots to post from my iPad.
