Ebel 9172431 wrist watches news:
Hi. I am new to watch collecting and finding it to be an awesome new "hobby", albeit an expensive one. I am a woodworker and want to build my own watch cases. Does anyone know where I can purchase winders? I dont want the boxes but just the winder parts so I can build my own cases. Thanks!
10 months ago my wife bought me a Portuguese Chronograph with the blue strap and blue arabic. About two months after purchase it would stop running. I thought that I was bending my wrist and hitting the top button and accidentally stopping it. Or, I thought, I wasn't wearing it enough and it was winding down. The problem got progressively worse until the watch failed completely. We brought it back to the retailer and they sent it to IWC. IWC then responded that we had damaged the watch through a "shock" or "trauma" and refused to cover the repair under warranty. They also claimed that we had dented the case, bent one of the pins and other damage. We were outraged. All we had done was wear the watch. Finally, after much back and forth, with IWC by the way NEVER RESPONDING to repeated contacts to their Swiss website, they agreed to fix the watch under warranty. It will take about two months. This company, in my opinion, is a complete fraud that does not stand behind their pro
For some reason I have it in my head I need to send our two Luminox watches back to Luminox to have the batteries replaced. Maybe it's in the papers that came with the one new watch. I need to dig those out. Maybe I read it somewhere else. I was at a local jeweler this afternoon and he was wearing a Luminox so I mentioned bringing mine in for battery replacement and even he said they're supposed to be sent to Luminox due them being gas filled (??), and for warranty purposes. I'd never heard the gas filled statement before, warranty yes, and if a watch is still in warranty I'm sure that's why it's suggested to send back for battery replacement. Warranty isn't an issue. Both watches are well out of warranty. Is there any reason why I shouldn't get the battery replaced locally? The battery in both watches lasted close to five years. Does Luminox use some special super battery? If so, that would be the only reason I would consider sending in the watches..
Can anyone tell me how to go about getting watches insured? I talked to the secretary at my insurance company and she said I could add on a rider to my home owners policy but I would need to have all my watches appraised. Does this usually cost a lot for appraisals? Do they just go off lists posted on the internet? How do I know that they will be fairly appraised and that my local small town jeweler isnt an idiot....hahaha.No offense intended but we are talking about a lot of money and these particular guys dont sell vintage or upper end watches. Thanks for the help!
There is a sale at the PX again... I am so tempted!
