help on a vintage golden ellipse 3548
Hi,i am a new member and hopefully a new patek owner. i am arranging to purchase a vintage golden ellipse from a private antiques dealer who is some what away from me, i plan to take a professional or arrange to go to an independent dealers with buyer to certify authenticity as the watch has no box or papers. To save myself a pointless journey i wondered if an experienced member of this forum could tell if its not genuine by some photos before i travel to conclude the verification and hope fully deal. if it is genuine im not to worried about the papers as its the cheapest one ive seen and i dont plan on reselling it hopefully it will be the start of a beautiful collection. i would also like some opinions on the golden ellipse, i choose this to start with as it hasnt changed externally as far as i know from inception till now my logic behind this was that it wouldnt seem like an obvious vintage if it was in good condition unless im mistaken (avoiding looking like the old guys in the por

Original Hamilton factory
The original Hamilton factory was built in 1875 in Lancaster, PA, for the Adams & Perry Watch Company. They went bankrupt in 1876 and were succeeded by the Lancaster Watch Company, and then by the Keystone Watch Company. The newly incorporated Hamilton Watch Company (November 1892) took over the factory and equipment, and also bought out the machinery from the Aurora Watch Company in Illinois.Here's the factory as it appeared in 1875, with some artistic license (the cupolas on the ends were never completed):And a photo from 1895:And here's a view of the same building about 10 years ago:Fortunately, this magnificent building was not torn down like so many others. Today it has been converted to condominiums, and is called Clock Tower Apartments. It's a fabulous building with a regal history.

Glad to see 2012 go . . .
Back in March, my urologist insisted on a totally unnecessary prostate biopsy which resulted in an e. coli infection requiring two hospitalizations and weeks of home infusions. Then in June, I suffered a Type VI tibial plateau fracture of my right leg - again, two hospitalizations followed by extensive rehab. Then this month, my wife spent 18 days in the hospital near death without a definite diagnosis.And for the first time in ten years, no Omegas (new or pre-owned) added to the collection.So 2012 was not a good year.But I'm walking again, my wife is home and improving each day, and this Thursday the new Omega arrives.Indications are that 2013 will be better at our house.I pray it will be better at yours also.
