Baume & Mercier launched its Clifton collection of men’s watches in 2013, and has been adding models to it in subsequent years. The latest Baume & Mercier Clifton, which debuts this week at SIHH, is the collection’s most complicated watch to date, combining two functions found in previous models, a chronograph and complete calendar.The Baume & Mercier Clifton Chronograph Complete Calendar, like all models in the Clifton collection, takes its design cues from the brand’s Golden Fifties watches, vintage pieces from the 1950s that are now preserved at the Baume & Mercier museum in Switzerland. Its 43-mm-diameter steel case has both polished and satin finishing and scratch-resistant sapphire crystals in the front and back. The elegantly balanced layout of the tricompax dial features blued steel hands (a hallmark of the collection) for the chronograph counter hands, a red-tipped pointer hand for the date, and subdials at 12, 6, and 9 o’clock. Is it really worth saving?
I have seen some of the amazing watches that Stan has saved from the trash bin, but when is it too late to save. The reason I ask is while browsing the swamp just doing a general search for Longines I came across the following Longines chronograph cal 330 (Valjoux 22) movement, sellers asking price is $400. Then I see the pics and my jaw drops and I wonder how there can be any value in it at all, it just looks like a pile of rust in a case so badly scared that it looks worse than Rocky at the end of a movie. I found a finished auction of another Longines using the same movement, prices are around $2500, so is the rusty one really worth the effort?

Leaning towards a planet ocean
I dig the contemporary look and reading about the 8500 movements seem to be pointing me towards the omega po 2011 when they come out. I cannot seem to find much info on the 8500 movement. But looking at both the rolex sub and the po, I like the way the po looks and feels. Funny since I was leaning towards a sub initially. Now it looks like the orange basel po caught my attention.
