Woke up this morning and remembered my dreamDoesnt happen very often. LOLI dreamed I was posting right here on WTF pics of my new speedmaster. Now is this a sign? I guess it's from all the speedmasters pictures we see around hereOn a side note, I blame: Jake, David and none other than Jim!!!!So let's start digging!I have a cute bonus from work coming shorty because I'm finishing the year as the 3rd best on 236 employees! What am I expected to pay for a speedy pre-loved? I still dont know if I want it auto or manual, crystal or plexiAll I know is that I want the full size and ideally not on bracelet as I would get that perf strap to go with it and I know I wouldnt go for the day/date. Shoot your thoughts boysWhat am I expected to pay for each...Thank you! Oh and Happy bday QT again! LOL
Can anyone weigh in on what they think of both of these beautiful watches?I like the Breitling. It's big, masculine lines and great face. But with Jaeger lecoultre Reverso within the same price range, I can't decide. Help sway me one way or the other. The JLC has more of a wow factor with the reversible exhibition back and amazing craftsmanship. Looking at both in stainless steel strap.
You may have seen my recent post about a watch I refinished for my boss (Hamilton Paige). As mentioned in that post, it was a lot of fun to see a neglected and non-working watch turn into something special. Also noted in that post was another project watch completed at the same time - a Hamilton Brent-B (1952).It is no secret, I am a Hamilton guy. I like the modern Hamiltons and have my share. My interest in the vintage Hamiltons is growing. I am trying to pace myself and find a particular interest, not just "old Hamilton" watches. Truth be told - this watch was not even on the radar for me. But honestly, wouldn't you buy your namesake watch as a WIS? I remember thinking, "Really? There is a watched called 'Brent'?""It was one of those things that a routine search pulled up - and I hadn't seen one before. It was obvious that this one needed some work, but the 'bay mode kicked in and I had to have it. I mean, I might never, ever see one again - right? Truth be told, they are
Hey guys, Considering my first "high end (for me)" watch purchase. Got it narrowed down to pretty much two choices. They are:Revue Thommen Airspeed XL, eta 2834Ball Fireman II (green), eta 2824-2Both are approx $1000usd. Just looking for some general feedback. Any preference on the movements? Any other watches you'd consider in the same price range? Which watch gives the most bang for the buck in your opinion? Fell in love with the RT first but then came across the ball and now I can't decide. I got a feeling I'll eventually end up owning both but I've got to purchase one first. rt.jpgball.jpg
from around the net:Crushed Wrist WatchIn this new eManuscript from xxxxx, we are pleased to bring you a smashing and hilarious routine by Sam Berland.. Here's the effect. A wrist watch is borrowed; which the performer places to his ear. He notes that the ticking seems to be weak and the watch may need winding. After the performer apparently ¡°over winds¡± the watch; a loud clicking noise is heard followed by a buzzing sound as if the spring has completely unwound. The performer reassures the nervous owner that he can fix it. He takes out a small oil can and ¡°lubricates¡± the watch and then, listens to it again. Happily, the performer says the watch seems to be working now and all that remains, is the ¡°shock resistance¡± test! The performer inserts the watch into an envelope and places it on the table. Next, he brings out a hammer and hits the watch with a light blow. A peculiar pop is heard. The watch is removed from the envelope and a gear falls from it. The performer forces a smile, as
