Christie’s December 14 sale to be held at 20 Rockafeller Plaza in New York includes 424 lots, and the stars of the show in terms of pre-sale estimates are Patek Philippe, Breguet, and Piaget. Three pieces are estimated at $250,000 to $350,000: Patek Philippe references 2499/100 and 1462, and a platinum Breguet ref. 3857. A Piaget ladies Kanthara is estimated at $200,000 – $300,000. Lot 198 is a Patek Philippe ref. 2499/100, manufactured in 1982. This 18K gold perpetual calendar chronograph with moon phases succeeded Patek’s first series-production perpetual calendar, the ref. 1518. Only 349 examples of ref. 2499 were manufactured over four different series. The reference remained in production until 1985. The pre-sale estimate is $250,000 to $350,000.This two-register stainless-steel chronograph, ref. 1463, was manufactured in 1955 and was retailed by Tiffany & Co. New York. The eagle has landed! My new 2551.80 arrived yesterday morning.Wow! It's hard to believe Omega is retiring this watch with the 1120 movement. Blue is too cool. Anyhow, I resized the bracelet this morning and am wearing it now. I don't have wordsyou guys know the feeling. I took some photos that I'd like to post for all to to see. (As soon as I figure out how to do it!) You all will have to forgive the quality - I borrowed a cheap point and shoot digital. Not very good. (I'd like to get a nice Canon digital, but It seems that Omegas keep getting in the way.) As a side note - my wife loves it too and totally understands. GENEVA (Reuters) - Swiss independent watchmaker Parmigiani expects the super-rich to buy pricey timepieces this year as they shrug off the impact of a global economic slowdown which has crimped consumer spending across the world.Other high-end brands such as Audemars Piguet, Girard-Perregaux and Roger Dubuis are cautious after sales slumped in the last three months of 2008, but Parmigiani Chief Executive Jean-Marc Jacot sees sales rising 15 percent in 2009.Speaking at the SIHH watch fair in Geneva, Jacot told Reuters he didn't think the wealthy were likely to change their lifestyles because of the economic downturn."Maybe for a certain period you are not in the mood to buy and that is what happened for the last three months. I want to make this simple. My AD has given me the opportunity to purchase one of his 5522 alotmnets. Should I go for it, given that I would have to sell my 5167 to fund the purchase? I love the pictures of the 5522, but worry about the lack of date.
