Here the interesting stuff is in the fact that the moon phase indicator doesn't need to be adjusted for 1000 years, and that the watch has a small, centrally mounted 24 hour hand. It's a "manjewel"
When I start talking about my 5402 with folks - even watch guys (I've never actually met anyone in the flesh who could appreciate it) - I see a lot of smirks, a lot of eye rolling and a lot of impatient looks as I struggle for words.I usually end up somewhere between, It changes to way you look at watches,to, it completely recalibrates your conception of aesthetics.It's because the 5402 goes so far beyond what I knew a watch, indeed any tangible object, save one*, was capable of. What's the exception? I'll get there in a second...The complexity and detail of the case design. The richness of the dial. The perfection of the execution of the finish. You can keep throwing words out there, and they help, certainly, but they don't suffice. Indeed, even the best photographs - and I have seen some incredible ones - help one tremendously to understand the 5402 but even they don't quite suffice. Looks like the dreaded price increases did not affect the standard mainline watches; i.e., stainless Speedmasters and Seamasters.As for the newer pieces, he has four of the LE Bond watches in stock. I am so old that the only Bond for me is Sean Connery and he wore a Rolex but having seen the LE Bond in the steel, I must say that I am impressed.For those of us interested in the First Omega in Space (I call it the Schirra Speedy), he has no news as to when it might arrive.
