- Size makes time easy to read even without glasses. It is also visible in dim lighting. Lens needs frequent cleaning because it collect smudges.

A rumor reported on our sister blog, Watch-Insider, this morning, has now been confirmed: Jean-Fr¨¦d¨¦ric Dufour, currently the CEO of Zenith, has been named the new global CEO for Rolex SA. An official start date for Dufour, who has been in his position at Zenith since 2009, has yet to be announced. My new (to me) Underwood can run, like I imagine most winders do, on AC or DC power.Right now, I'm running the three modules on DC; three "C" cells.Other than the need to replace batteries, is there a benefit of one type of power over the other for running this winder?Thanks...

2012 watch of the year!!
Guess who got the award for 2012 watch of the year???TAG HEUER. This award is the highest watchmaking honour.Maybe it was a good thing that SWATCH GROUP wants to stop supplying everyone with their movement.Now TAG, instead of being just a watch case maker has transform into a full watch producer. Anyway all those ETA is a very old tech movement,IMO. Paul Newman Speedy
I finally gave my Speedy a Paul Newman / panda conversion. I replaced the black dial with a silver dial (with black subdials); the white with silver hour minute hands; and the white with an orange sweeper (thought about doing a black sweeper, but I think the orange really pops); I left the white subdial hands the same. I got all the parts from Otto Frei's place in Oakland. Here are the before and afters, let me know what you guys and gals think:Omega.jpgPanda.JPG

Tips for avoiding unnecessary scratches?
I'm excited to start wearing my DJ41 daily soon!Before I do, I'd like to hear about some tips to help avoid unnecessary scratching. Particularly with desk diving, what can I do to keep the clasp from scratching excessively on my MacBook Pro? Like a rubber grip? Or something that also doubles as an ergonomic cushion for your wrists?Now, before you scathe me for trying to keep the watch looking new, I don't plan on babying my watch. It WILL be used daily. But at the same time, I don't want to abuse it unnecessarily.I think of it similar to how I like making sure my dress shoes look their best (shoe trees, conditioning, polish, etc.). Ex: I avoid unnecessary puddles, but I'll still wear them if there's some rain. This way I walk tall, they look great AND they are kept healthy.What's the equivalent I should do for my new watch?
