Audemars Piguet 25770SN.O.0001KE.01 wrist watches news:
I am planning on having my Orient Star WZ0251FD calibrated to keep better time (right now it's losing about 20-30 seconds per day). My question is, it is my understanding that this watch employs some type of specialized inner casing to handle it's 300m diving capability without the use of a release valve, and that due to this, Orient recommends that only they work on these watches to ensure that it is taken apart and put back together properly so that this feature is not breached. Is this accurate? I don't want to send it all the way to Japan just to have it calibrated. Any tips on having done locally, such as...should I try and find a certain type of watchmaker to do it, and is there anything specific I should tell him/her about the watch to make sure they properly disassemble and reassemble it to factory specs? The manual is in Japanese so any pertinent info in there won't help them.
This from National Geographic ......In February 1864 the Confederate submarine H.L. Hunley became the first underwater vessel to sink an enemy ship in battle. But the pioneering submersible followed its victim to the bottom of Charleston harbor¡ªcreating a mystery that remains unresolved. The excavation of a well-preserved pocket watch from the submarine may yield new clues to the puzzle of how and why the Hunley went to the bottom. In addition to chronological clues, scientists believe the gold pocket watch may tell them more about its owner¡ªthe charismatic Lt. Dixon. Inside, scientists found three stamps and a serial number that will lead to detailed information about the manufacturer. The apparent time suggests the watch outlived the crewmen and continued to tick for many hours past their deaths, "It's a miracle that the hands are even still here," said Senior Conservator Paul Mardikian. "They are quite damaged, but they are still here and fused to the face. There was a pocket of ai
One of the things that I like about AP aficionado's is that they/we can appreciate and enjoy watches of all sizes. To me it is one of the only brands that embraces some pretty varied watch sizes. And does so well!
I saw another thread on the 5980/1R-001, and that got me thinking. I love the 5712 and I love the RG bracelet (I am not all that fond of the chrono Nautilus because I think the balance of the watch is lost because of the pushers). Wouldn't the combination of those two just be the best combo ever? I tried out my Photoshop skills, and besides the different shades of gold it looks quite good. I just thought I would share this. I sincerely hope PP decides to make this model. Enjoy
Hi guys,Last enjoyed a PAM 164 sometime in 2007 and then a PAM 312 in 2011. Since then I have only had the AP SS Novelty and the Ceramic orange diver with a trusted Omega seamaster which is my daily beater.Owning a new Panerai was not something I had really planned for, however, when exchanging New year wishes with my Local AD we just discussed watches and I said I was thinking of getting a Panerai now but needed something special. I looked on the forums and decided the 587 was the best new Panerai out there.I told the AD of my interest and had them put me on their list. Had since forgotten and did not expect to hear back.Obviously was surprised when then called me saying a 587 had just come in and I had 1st preference over a decent waiting list. I would have had to confirm within 2 days however.Anyways to cut a long story short, I visited the boutique and after trying it on there was no turning back. I did not even take it off to get the stickers removed :-)Since then this watch has b
