Oris 583 7497 40 94 LB wrist watches news:
Since I know very little about quartz watches, an anonymous member has volunteered to help us put together a F.A.Q. post to add to the Horology 101 series. This week's installment will be some of the inventions and discoveries that made quartz movements possible, but in a few weeks the answers to your questions will become part of the H-101 sticky. So fire away and we'll try to compile all the responses into one post!Hey, I'm going to learn some interesting things too. I'll start with this:How does a quartz mechanism generate enough power to drive the hands of an analog watch with such limited battery voltage?
It's 10.15 am Monday 03 August 09 in Malaysia and I'm wearing this (old pic)
Wanted to get some input from TRF. I know this is the AP section, so I might get a biased result, but here it is.I'm looking at picking up a minimal piece to put into the rotation. Something you would wear almost on a daily basis. I've been looking at the Rolex DSSD D-Blue and the AP Diver with white dial. The DSSD James Cameron just gets my attention for some reason. I've never been a big Rolex guy, but this one really sings to me. I do have an Explorer 2 that I rotate in every once in a while. On the other hand, the AP Diver with White dial ahs always been of interest to me. I'm thinking I can add a white strap during the summer and would add some versatility. My only concern is this would be a 3rd ROO to my collection. I already have a ROO 44 in FC and RG. Should I venture away from the ROO line this time around and get something different?
Wish I had a better follow up to that opening line, but I don't.This was the night of the rehearsal dinner. My 57, one friend has an aqua Terra and the other a vintage constellation I believe. He had some crazy story about how his grand father gave his father that watch and basically sent him away from home.Yes, I turned my watch around for the picture.
So I purchased the Omega (2225.80) I have wanted for a few years. I was in the islands and put together a decent deal. A few week after I came home, I scratched the bezel and insert on the pebble finish of my pool while diving in....it kills me!So 3 weeks old, my baby is beat up. The blue insert is beat up pretty good and the bezel has a few ugly gouges. I have to get this straightened out. Even if the insert is replaced and the bezel is buffed...that will look good enough for me.Any reccs. on where it should go? I have an Omega Boutique here in town...they properly sized it for me, as the AD sized it too loose... and can send it out through them...any other thoughts/recommendations...? Thanks!
