This was a very interesting and informative video (translated to English from French) that recently came out from the FHH about enamel work on watches, and the four various types of techniques that are primarily used for watch dials. Many of us don't even recognize enamel art on watches - or cannot appreciate what goes into it. It is very tough work done by highly skilled (and patient) master artists who have been doing it for years. To get it just right on a watch dial can take a few tries as there is always risk involved in not only the actual painting, but also the 800 degree plus baking process. Most watches with "paintings" on them utilize enamel. This is because enamel lasts a long time, is hardy, will not fade, and has extremely bold and beautiful looks when done well. If a certain brand can only set at 672, 960, 1248 turns per day (and can do cw, ccw, bd) and i have lets say a Valjoux 7750 which requires 800 TPD..where should we set the watch winder at? 650 ?

Raymond Weil quart movement replacement
A friend of mine more or less gave me a Raymond Weil Parisfal W1 quartz, same as below but with a blue dial:It was not working so I figured it was just the battery. Opened the case, saw some corrosion from the old battery, and tried replacing it anyways. It still didn't work. I noticed that the movement looked very basic and simple.I took it to a jeweler who quoted me $95 with labor to replace the movement. I have not been able to identify what the movement is so I don't know if this is a good price or not. It looked simple enough that I could do it myself. But to me it's not worth it to do myself if my price to buy the movement is close to the jeweler's all-in price.What is Watch Talk's take?
