I received this watch yesterday and although cute, it is not what I had expected. The watch face is much er than I expected and the gold on the band does not go all the way around it stops about 3/4 of the way. Again, it is a cute watch but the picture is deceiving.

For my money, that has to be one of, if not the most beautiful watch ever made! I would be scared to wear a gold watch every day. I get enough scratches in SS, I can't imagine trying to keep a gold watch looking decent. Plus, scratching up such a work of art would cause me amazing pain.My wife already makes fun of me for carrying a small piece of green scrub pad for cleaning up SS bracelets (especially, the Omega Bond bracelet). I appreciate the beauty of gold, but not likely to ever be found on my wrist!best wishes,Jeff

Why is my bracelet so fragile?
My GMT Master IIc, has the polished center links, but they are hairlines magnets, specially the clasp portion, why???It gets hairlines even from using the shirt sleeve to clean it Is there something wrong with my clasp? or is it normal? Certainly I was expecting some more roughness from a Rolex

I'm not talking pocket watches here...The Ball watch was the first wrist watch to be allowed on the railroad with the Accutron and the Elgin close behind.But in spite of the inspectors negative thoughts about the Hamilton electric and its poor timekeeping ability, Hamilton had great sway and was able to get it approved on many lines.The faults, if any, lied more in poor servicing and poor regulation by a generation of watchmakers more used to the forgiving nature of the mechanical watch.

Repair Shop Shock - Money, Money, Money!
I went today to one of the more upscale watch repair/dealer to get an estimate on repairing a vintage chronograph -$400.00! and that's just for a mainspring. Also to repair a 1880's Hamilton pocket watch $300.00. Admitedly the P/W needed crystal, hands, and a balance shaft but Jeez Louise I can't believe the prices. $200.00 to clean a watch, more if it's a chrono. The days of the old gent with the little bench in the back room is rapidly disappearing. These gents would look at a watch and say, "Yep, mainspring shot, give me a day and I'll crank one out, $40.00 please."
