IWC IW544403 wrist watches news:
I've been picking up spare movements for a while, for parts and such. After painstakingly taking apart and putting back together 2 12s PW movements, I threw caution to the wind and did the same with an 8/0 sized Elgin 554. That one, I screwed up the hairspring trying to get it back between the regulator pins.Of course, these were all broken when I started (balance staffs), and so they still aren't working.Today, I disassembled a nonworking Elgin 770, and used parts from it to fix (kinda) another 770 that had balance problems, and a 711 that had a broken escape wheel pivot! I was amazed to see them both ticking - at least momentarily. They're still old and dirty, and definitely need to be cleaned, but they wouldn't even tick before, and now they do!I don't know if I'll ever get to the point of cleaning my own watches, but that was very satisfying!!
I hereby introduce me to this forum.I'm from Lisbon, Portugal I¡äm 55 years old and suffer from a disease that many of us know. When I see someone always look at the watch that person has in the wrist.I hope to have good times with you and learn a lot.
Here are some photos of a Hamilton for sale. I don't know much about vintage watches. The price seems fair. Can I get any opinions? The watch is 33mm, 10k gold and ss on new brown lizard grain strap. Cleaned and working. Thanks for your help.
Just pulled the trigger on a speedmaster Mk 4.5 It's in the postal system and the waiting is eating me up. Any love on the forum for this model ???
Hey guys,I have a few SS Rolex and wanted to add a dressier watch on a strap. A nice 3802 with box and archive papers is being sold locally for $8,250. I still have to try it on but at 33mm it sounds small, but it may work for my 6.5 wrist. Is this a desirable piece and is the price good? I'm really digging the classic look and roman dial. It was serviced 5 years ago.Any and all inputs would be appreciated. Attached pic is borrowed from the net. Thanks in advance!
