Seiko LaSalle 14k octagonal case
I think that this is an interesting looking watch. It is a Seiko LaSalle 14k with an octagonal case. I bought this watch when I was a kid in 1986 and I have had it ever since. Are there many Seiko fans in this forum? What do you think of it? I know that Seiko stopped making the LaSalle line in 14k not long after this watch was made.

Snap Judgement on Vintage Pocketwatch
Just found a driving clock that I really really liked at a nearly-new/used sale, and a quick Google Search yields me only this picture: doxawatches/detail_pages/8d_sm_02.jpgIt's pretty beat up inside (although the crystal looks pretty reasonable and it still winds). Is it worth the $75 (which apparently it was appraised at much higher, and I trust them, it's a charity sale for a hospital nearby.Also, I got a non-working Bulova Accutron rectangular gold watch (looks like its from the 50s/60s) for 50c. Is it worth the money to get either of these repaired/refurbished?- especially the driving clock, is it any good to get it maybe made into a pocketwatch?

Incoming - My first Patek
I¡¯m really excited about finally owning my first Patek: the elusive 5711/1A-010. I had a great experience with my AD who was able to source me one in less than 90 days, after I made a deposit. (I¡¯m sorry guys, he¡¯s only willing to sell this reference to local customers.)I couldn¡¯t be happier, it was love at first sight. I will post better pics later.

Patek Customer Service Rules
Guys, after being distressed about my new Aquanaut steel bracelet fit issue, I reached out to both the US Distributor Customer Service Dept, and spoke with Yuko who runs customer service. She was fantastic in confirming the part I need and agreeing to overnight it to my AD.Conversely, my AD, Lux Bond & Green in Boston, was similarly fantastic by agreeing to pick up the $225 cost of the link & half and help me out on a different unrelated Rolex issue. I am seriously blown away by the attentive service I received and the level of satisfaction I feel. It is a very good reminder that there are some fabulous ADs out there worth building relationships with.Lastly, I was also very pleased with my deal, which exceeded my expectations enough to bring me into the Patek club. Next up...a nice 5711.One last note, I had also spoken with the Patek specialist at Tourneau (normally not a TRF favorite) and he was equally accommodative on pricing and silliness to overnight a watch in for me

Brand new buyer a little disappointed
Long story short I have always wanted a Rolex and years ago saw and decided the hulk was going to be it for a number of reasons. Bought a house first, zero debt. Saved and saved got married, had a kid and life happened. Got caught up again, saved some more and it was finally time. Grabbed the cash and went to the distributor after doing some research on various ones. I show up cash in hand and proudly ask for my watch! As you all know they said that it is not available but they can put me on the list. No clear answer to when. A little disappointed I drive to a few other places only to hear the same thing. My question or comment would be watch enthusiasts know there is a shortage, the general public does not. It¡¯s a luxury item that is supposed to be a experience. Trying on watches, getting it fitted and finally buying the watch. The shortage doesn¡¯t make me want it more it¡¯s made me rethink if I truly want it.
