Fr¨¦d¨¦rique Constant will be the Official Timekeeper and exclusive sponsor of The Peking to Paris Motor Challenge, taking place from September 10th through October 16th, 2010. The first edition of this legendary classic car event took place in 1907. The idea for the race came from a challenge published in the Paris newspaper Le Matin on January 31st 1907. The challenge read: “What needs to be proved today is that as long as a man has a car, he can do anything and go anywhere. Is there anyone who will undertake the challenge to travel from Peking to Paris by automobile?”The route for the 2010 edition of ‘The Ultimate Driving Adventure’ runs from the Great Wall in China, through Mongolia, then briefly into Russia before turning south west into Kazakstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and via Turkey, Greece and Italy into France to finish on the famous Place Vend?me in Paris. The trail follows the historic Silk Route and the participating drivers will have days off in f
Does anyone know how much the FC Diver weighs? Having only seen it once I cannot recall other than it was very light. I will find out soon enough with one on the way I have several Steel sports watches in my collection along with one ceramic piece. I am used to a little heft but welcome the comfortable change of having a lightweight piece.
Hello,I am looking to purchase my first new PP.I've been a Rolex man for several years but have now decided to up the stakes as it were. My budget is not large but mid ¡ê30k's is my limit.I very much like the 5146 models but due to location as working abroad I haven't been able to view in detail, only from pictures on websites and forums.(If anyone has 5146J 010 or 5146P pictures!)My main worry is that my wrist is 8 1/4. Always having adjustments and new links with Rolex. Can I ask any members how this is with PP? What is the maximum standard fitted size leather or precious metal PP fit on their timepieces.Do they adjust to that size or will they change to suit. I just like the plain tang fold over clasp which I beleive is with the 5146.Any advice will be much appreciated.Kind RegardsSimon
I've been thinking about the 5711 for ages, hoping to see it in the flesh at some point, but never did. Finally took the plunge after much enabling from you guys. Was very lucky to find one at my local AD. I rang the London boutique out of curiosity to see what their take was regarding the 40th anniversary and whether I should wait? Their reply was that I was lucky to be offered a 5711 in blue,,,they have a 3 year waiting list and their opinion was that Patek purists would see the current 5711 as more desirable than any future 'upgrade', although they had no knowledge of what may be launched in November. Their gut feeling was that the most likely scenario would be a new complication. Anyway,,,back to the watch, I arrived nervously at the AD and was presented with the 5711 in its vacuum packed box,,,initial impressions 'ok' viewing it through the plastic. However, on opening the box and removing the watch, I was grinning from ear to ear and will even admit to feeling a little emotional,
Hi, some of you may remember me posting in Audemars Piquet forum asking about trading my black steel 5980. Now, another dilemma emerged involving purely Patek brand this time. Should I trade my 4yr old 5980 + cash (~17,000usd) for brand new rose gold 5980? Admittedly, gold has recently become my thing of late. I would not have thought about this few years ago. I guess time has caught up with me, haha! Again, your thoughts are very much appreciated.
