IIs anyone trying to acquire the Dirty Dozen WWW British watches? A daunting and expensive taskMy fantasy would be to try to complete the set of Dirty Dozen watchesBuren Cyma Eterna Grana IWC Laeger- LeCoultre, Lemania, Longines, Omega, Record, Timor, VertexI have 2 in my collection, will try to make it 3 next week
Over the last 10 years I have acquired many of these signed Hamilton straps in a verity of sizes, colors & keeper styles, my question is about what year would you say Hamilton change from the double keeper over to the big single keeper & then back again. Oh & while we¡¯re at it when did Hamilton slip in these gold filled one? The reason I¡¯m asking as with my obsession with having the Original Bracelets I like to have the correct period strap & sign buckle to go with my current collection. I have included some of the styles I have. Currently I have guessed the change around the early to mid 40¡¯S then back around late 50¡¯S
My wife surprised me with an early birthday present today:I've wanted one of these since I first saw a picture of one a few years ago....what a cool, classic look!Another view:A shot of the cal. 69 movement:Looks clean and runs. However, when I put the watch on my timegrapher, it's clear she needs some TLC...the amplitude is weak and the beat error is bad:SO, as much as I want to wear this one, it's off to my watchmaker for service.....thanks for letting me share my newest pickup with the group!Greg
I have been looking at the 5124g for some time now. I absolutely love the watch; I think it's sensational. However, at $27.2k new, I think it's a bit much, especially considering what they go for pre-owned, and I have not found anyone willing to come off that price too much. However, a Patek AD I work with from time-to-time tells me they just got a pre-owned 5124g in from a collector. I asked why it wasn't on their website yet and the salesman said well, because it hasn't been serviced and polished yet. Most of my pre-owned knowledge comes from the world of Rolex, where polishing is very bad. I told him that if the watch was newer, and depending on condition, I would definitely want it unserviced and not polished. Am I just misinformed and this is standard protocol? This is a very reputable Patek AD. He gentleman also said that depending on if our watchmaker is allowed to work on it or not, it will go back to Patek in Manhattan, or stay here with our watchmaker. Is there ever any way t
Hi,I¡¯m a brand new (currently) non-Rolex owner, but looking to buy my first and only one ! I¡¯m considering the sub c or the Explorer I (I really want an Explorer I with a date but that¡¯s an impossible dream) and have been lurking on here for a few weeks, reading and re reading posts about old subs v sub c and the evolution of the different models. It strikes me that there is as much love for the ¡®new¡¯ sub as there is preference for the older one with the smaller look.In my opinion, watches have increased in size over the last xx number of years, and I guess my question is ....Has this been driven by Rolex, or are they simply following the trends ?It seems that in the early days Rolex were setting the standards of build quality, innovation and style/trend. While I understand there has been some major internal upgrades with the new sub c, have they jumped on the bandwagon of bigger watches and do Rolex still influence trends like they did in the past, or are they now a more reactive rath
