Seiko has an incredibly diverse line of watches. Sometimes so diverse that unless you are very familiar with their models it is hard to know not only what new watches are coming out, but how they are measure up in terms of quality. Seiko even has movements from your ultra basic quartz, to complex mechanical movement - and literally everything in between. This can cause confusion and a sense of being horologically overwhelmed, at least for us Americans. It seems as though the Japanese are more comfortable with the many Seiko watches. I say all this to impress upon you that not all Seiko watches are created equally. For example, this Seiko Premier Direct Drive Moon Phase watch is about $1,500. So where does it fit in their overall line?Well this watch fits sort of in the middle of the line. Convince me on a Seamaster please!
I am working on acquiring an Omega Seamaster (Bond Style). Two weekes ago I decided I couldn't deal with mechanical watches, now in about a week I am going to buy a good one. I was thinking Omega, Breitling, or Sinn. I find Sinn interesting but I have a line on the above mentioned Seamaster. One reason I'm leaning Omega is the chronometer certification. I just want it! So if yall don't mind to help me decide, pics welcome, I will of course post pics of mine. If, and when I buy it. I am slighty put off by its smaller 38mm size, any owners of this size that can put me at ease? I am very serious, I just don't think several Seikos will scratch this itch, not matter how much I try. Omega Speedmaster Pulse Rate Bezel
Hey Guys:I sourced this really cool vintage bezel for my 1969 Speedy.It is graduated to calculate pulse rates by counting 15 heartbeats against the stopwatch feature.Before installing it (similar to a Rolex bezel/insert) I needed to figure out how to align the bezel in relation to the dial (and removed the original tachymetre unit).A quick spreadsheet showed that the 45 BPM on the bezel needed to be directly across from the 20 seconds on the dial.A piece of scotch tape held it in place and the case-back press put it into the right position!Those Omega guys sure knew their stuff back in the good old days; now where is the dog so I can do his pulse!!
