Patrizzi & Co. opened the 2010 season on March 9 in New York City. Sales exceeded $2 million and two-thirds of the 161 lots sold. The top price of $250,000 was paid for a 1929 gold and nephrite Cartier Comet table clock featuring grande sonnerie chimes¡ªthe most complicated mechanism ever made by the company. A Patek Philippe Celestial ref. 5102 wristwatch brought $180,000, and a platinum Louis Cartier Art D¨¦co Tank watch produced in 1929 set a world record at $135,000 – well above the presale estimate. In addition to the catalog auction, Patrizzi & Co hosted its second silent sale with three-day viewings in Hong Kong and New York City. Thirty-nine pieces were sold for a total of more than $110,000. Bigger still is the announcement that four new wristwatches will make their d¨¦but at the upcoming haute horlogerie exhibition in Hong Kong. This will be the third such fair in the centre of the Asian market, and Lange deemed it an appropriate platform by which to launch their new collection, which includes the A. Lange & S?hne 1815 Chronograph, because of the continent's strong links to manufacture and the growing enthusiasm for high-end watches in the region.Building on the success of its first two years, the haute horlogerie exhibition in Hong Kong, entitled Watches & Wonders, will run from September 30th to October 3rd, 2015. A few weeks ago we took a look at the Maranez Layan, a brass (yes, brass) cushioned case watch with familiar but classic looks, decent components and a hard to resist price of $250. Today, we're going to take a detailed look at the Layan's more robust sibling, the limited edition 1000M Racha. The Racha has several stand out features that make it stand out from the heard of dive watches falling in the under $1000 range. To name a few; it has a mighty water resistance of 1000M (which we assume has been tested by the brand), it has a proven and reliable Miyota 9015 automatic movement at its heart, it has a thick domed sapphire crystal, and handful of extra straps and perhaps most interestingly, two interchangeable bezels. For $599 plus $50 shipping, the watch offers a lot of value. That being said, the case and dial designs are very common. Two special Speedies
The sandstorms in Dubai over the last couple of days have meant that any SLR action outside of the house is a no-no but even with my iPhone camera, my two LE Speedies look so damn good. I've been wearing these two in rotation this week, and everywhere I go I can see people eye-balling them. I've had a fair few questions about both of these beauties, as well as one offer to buy the Apollo 11 LE (which was politely refused), and it just makes we wonder why Omega doesn't do more white dial Speedies? Hi all,Pretty weird thread, I've been watching quite a bit of the walking dead lately and one of the main characters has been wearing what appears to be the same watch for a number of series! My question is in this circumstances what watch would you want to have on your wrist, would need to be hard wearing, reliable and accurate! My vote goes to the 116610ln slightly impartial as the only Rolex I own but let me know what you guys would wear.
