Factory documents uncovered in the past couple of years (unfortunately long after my now out-of-print Collectors' Guide was published) show that Hamilton rather quietly entered the wristwatch market five years earlier than other factory records had indicated -- in 1917.As has so often been written, wristwatches were considered too feminine by most men of the era. It was WWI that started to change that perception. Hamilton took advantage of this fact by initially marketing men's wristwatches as "Military" watches, even though they did not actually make watches for military use in WWI. The association with the decidedly masculine profession of solider gave the watches a macho allure. (Later they called them simply "Wrist Watch for Men.")But to get into the market quickly, Hamilton used existing movements from ladies' pendant watches -- grade 983 with 17 jewels, and grade 985 with 19 jewels. Love the 5370p. Enamel dial fabulous but difficult to capture easily.So which do you prefer of my two incomings this week?

Patek 5960/1A discontinued
It appears both models are discontinued, which apparently means the black dial was an extremely short run.I always liked the white model and was even more impressed with the black one when they announced it last year, but never pulled the trigger because the white dial looses a lot of value once it leaves the store and I'm not a fan of the bracelet (although I've seen beautiful pictures of the watch with a strap). Now that they are discontinued I wonder if the black dial will better retain its value. My AD has one in stock and I'm seriously considering it. What sort of discount (if any) should one expect to obtain on this model?Thanks

since there is the thread for pam 372 vs pam 390, and i don't think that is the right compare. since one is 47mm and another one is 44mm........ So i would love to make this thread to see how ppl like these big cases 47mm and beautiful pam's in the same class??? and there are someone who own both of them as well
