Just a few months ago we reviewed the Halios Tropik B, one of the more interesting bronze dive watches to drop in recent memory. With a relatively small cushion case, an elegant vintage inspired dial and an interesting bronze alloy, it's the kind of unique design that comes along once in a while and leaves a lasting impression. This seems to be the MO for Halios, whose watches are always different from the herd and priced very fairly.In tandem to the Tropik B, Halios released the Tropik SS, or stainless steel model. Though the same watch in terms of general DNA, the different material, and inclusion of a rotating bezel, make the Tropik SS a different experience. When you browse contemporary sub $1000 dive watches, you are likely to find something missing; dress divers. Sure, there are brands that make smaller or downsized models, but they are still clunky, tool watches. Fun On The Bay!
I made a purchase today and I'm pretty excited about it.:DI've been after a black-dial Benrus from the 50's/60s for quite sometime now, but they are pretty rare and when you do find one, they are often in lousy shape. This one looks very nice and the seller, who is a watchmaker with good credentials, said it is all-original. I have to agree from the pics, but we'll see. Either way, it will be a nice addition to the collection. The 34mm case looks very good and I really like the indices and numerals they used on these dials to. Kind of art-deco. He just had the 17 jewel manual wind ETA movement apart and serviced correctly and its keeping time nicely. The original signed crown is a plus and I always liked the contrast of the red second hand on these models to...Here are the sellers pics -

HELP: Soon to purchase a Diver, but from?
Im in a bit of a dilemma, basically I'm looking to purchase an AP Diver, but do i buy it from here(australia) or wait a couple of weeks and and when i travel to the states shop around and buy one there?my price i received in australia is $14500 my question is how much is a AP Diver in states(California area) retail and how are is the discounting? also is there stock?i know the rough price of a diver selling on the forum is 14k? is that relatively a good deal? or can u receive a bigger discount in some places?

Omega is stepping up to the plate...
I think Omega is doing a great job stepping up to the plate for making great watches. They are catching the eye of many watch lovers. Stepping into the making their own movements to making some great complications to keeping old school still there. I say nice job. In time they will be extremely expensive. In a short out of a few with a large pocket book to the extreme of retard expensive (those with pockets WAY beyond average.) Just like Rolex. Thumbs up from me.

I had a question for you guys familiar with the technical aspect of the waterproofing process I had a Sub about 10 years ago that that I had a problem with.I waited to service it about 9 years when I went in to get the service done they did an estimate at the service center and told me that somehow water or water vapor managed to cause the dial to flake is this related to steam or maybe showering with the watch on a frequent basis I also wear the watch at the gym frequently wood either the hot tub or the sauna cause any problems do you think.At the time it was about a $1,500 bill to have the dial replaced all the hands were placed and complete the service I really don't want to have to go through with that again ever by all means please give me your opinions on this
