Shinola is very likely a brand that needs no introduction to readers of this site. They seem to be one of the few bright spots of good news hailing from my old stomping grounds of Detroit. They've released a variety of well-designed leather goods, bicycles, and three-hander watches. On the watch front, they're upping the ante by adding a new size to one of their more popular models, the Runwell Chronograph.It's not surprising to hear that the new model is simply called the Runwell Chrono 41mm. As with their other models, this is a quartz-driven piece. This model uses their Argonite 5021 movement, which is assembled from 84 components provided to them by Ronda. This movement is housed in a fully polished 41mm stainless steel case. The overall feel of this case is one of compactness. Well, I'm not - but my Corum Temps Mecanique is. I bought it a few years ago off eBay, and the seller did a masterful job of hiding (or Photoshopping out) the damages. Then they disappeared. My credit card company covered me though, and now this poor thing is off to Corum for a spa treatment. Here are the "before" shots.Scratches and scuffs all over the place, including the polished bezel:Missing crown guards and more scratches:Did somebody try to open this with a chisel?:It's one of the few two tone watches I like (the others being the Rolex Sub and IWC Portofino) so we'll see how it turns out. Full details including pics & prices upon return. ps - Maggie in the NY office and Victor in the CA location were both very pleasant to deal with. Let's see if Corum's work measures up to the politeness of their staff.
