I've had this watch for two decades or so and wish that I didn't like it. Aesthetics and comfort are great. Accuracy is adequate. The problem is that it periodocally stopswithout warningin spite of being worn 24 hours daily and having been sent in for repair/servicing many timesstarting in my first year of ownership. My latest "consult" advised me that all automatic watches require manual winding. Grasping for straws I've tried this, as per his recommendation, 2-3 times/week. Still the stoppage occursat increasing frequency. The watch is long out of warranty. I'm frustrated. Suggestions?

Breitling Caseback Question?
I was close to making a final deal on a Breitling Chronomat (circa 1995-1996), which would be my very first Breitling purchase ever, when I noticed something about the caseback logo, a photo of which I am posting here. The seller of this watch advertises it as being ***100% AUTHENTIC***, however, my radar went up when, try as I might, I have not been able to find any other photo(s) of a Breitling (Chronomat or otherwise) using this caseback design! The photo is not a particularly good one but I think it is clear enough to make out the design of a single aircraft flying toward or away from the viewer, I can't tell which. I am not prepared to send my money to someone who accepts NO REFUNDS for a watch that is advertised as AUTHENTIC only to find that something is not authentic about it! Does anybody have any knowledge what-so-ever about this caseback design's being associated with Breitling, and if so, has it ever been used with this particular model Chronomat. Watch-men
I got to see Watchmen a couple of days ago. Here's some watch related info from the movie. The character Dr. Manhattan grew up the son of a watch maker. There was a scene in the movie involving a young John Osterman, (he becomes Dr. Manhattan as an adult), being taught how to disassemble and reassemble a watch by his father. The watch was unbranded and looked vintage but was still cool to see all the bits and pieces laid out on the watchmakers workbench. The only other reference that I noticed involved a Timex that stopped ticking before taking a licking.
