.......bummer.....my new PAM98 is busted after 1 week.....
As much as I love my first one - PAM98, I am not exactly thrilled with my current 'Panerai Experience'.I should also note that I seriously collect watches now for almost 10 years and I was fortunateas I 'never' needed any of my watches to get 'fixed' as none of them were ever broken.The only time I saw my watchmaker was to do a regular maintenance service, adjust timing, changea dial or bezel insert on number of my watches.....you get the idea.And no....I am NOT writing this post to ***** about Panerai quality as I know that 2-3 replies belowsomeone will say...."yeah, they make 40,000 watches a year, and since these are small mechanicalmarvels, something is bound to happen Just send it in to Panerai, they will fix it for you".Unfortunately that Is NOT acceptable to me at this time.. And the fact that my watch is one of the 500 hundred thatneeds attention after week of ownership does not make me feel any better. Some reflections on buying on eBay
I bought my first watch from eBay on Friday, and it arrived today! Check out my thread (with pictures) in the American Watch Forum here. That being said, some words of warning to newbies to watch collecting and the wonderful world of eBay.Tip 1: KNOW WHAT YOU WANT. I bought this after searching for a while and watching lots of auctions. I watched random ones with prices ranging from a few dollars to thousands. I have learned that i like thousands of watches from tons of brands. You need to know what you're lusting for and why. Tip 2: SEARCH AUCTIONS ONLY I've found that certain eBay stores list all their items with a "buy it now" inflated price. sure there are some deals out there for a "buy it now" price, but these people generally know exactly what they have and are trying to make a profit on it. I skip these completely because they seem to lump a lot of different watches in the same price point that are very different. You WILL find deals if you look for them, but you have to be pat

The Stealth Ducky has landed!
Hopefully this is the correct place for this post...if not, hopefully the mods/admins will move it to the correct location...OK...here is watch #4 in my recent binge...The Swiss Legend Commander (aka The Stealth Rubber Ducky)...and I like it!LOL!Here are a few quick shots of it....I still cannot shoot black dialed watches worth a darn...The only "complaint" (if you can call it that) is the same that I had with the original "Rubber Ducky"...that being that the numbers on the bezel tend to blend in with the bezel itself. I don't know that filling them in with a rose tone enamel or something would be the best bet, but I still think that it would look better with a little contrast.But, as I said, this one is a keeper. I love the black IP and rose. And, considering the price, coupon, cash back rebate and free shipping...the price was certainly right.Michael
