Jaeger LeCoultre 165.24.20 wrist watches news:
I picked this up this solid 14K Elgin Touchdown 229 a few weeks ago. I don't think I've shown it here yet. (If I have, please just ignorebut I think I showed it on the Hamilton Forum with a Hamilton Rectangular.) Also see a photo of it beside a TT Illinois Consul. All 3 cases were made by Solidarity.
Can anybody please tell me what you would pay for an antique Hamilton pocket watch (description below)? I would like to bargain for it with the owner and I definitely want to make sure it¡¯s worth it. It¡¯s going to be a gift for a watch connoisseur, would you recommend this type of watch for someone who is a watch enthusiast? It's quite pretty. Thank you so much in advance for your help¡Description: Large antique Hamilton Yellow Gold pocket watch in very nice condition. It is triple signed and estimated between 85 and 90 years old. The genuine antique beveled "glass" lens looks great with no chips, cracks or visible scratches. The high quality Hamilton swing out 25 year gold filled case is very nice dings dents or brassing. All alignments for covers to movement are proper and the covers snap together tightly. The front cover does not open past 90 degrees and the hinge is nice and tight. The high precision 17 jewel movement is very ornate. It looks nice and clean and starts running as s
After letting the watch sit for a few days, while turning the crown to get it started, it begins to feel 'grainy' after 2-3 turns. I tried to put it on a winder for 600 bidirectional rotations per day but the watch actually stops working for a while. Not sure if it becomes over wound because by the Orbita website, that is the recommended setting for the 3126 movement. Let me know if any of you guys think there is something wrong with the movement (re grainy feeling) or any best practice for not wearing the watch for a few days. After setting the time, it works perfectly. (Prob not a movement problem and rather a storage issue ??)
Just acquired this classic Speedmaster 3513.33 for price of usd 888. Is it a good buy? Not much is known about this model, but I just love the guilloche on the dial.
OK, I'll start it up. Don't judge until you have handled it in person. This is the perfect evolution of the Submariner. To all who now own, or will own the Rolex Submariner 114060-Eddie
