Jaeger LeCoultre Jaeger LeCoultre 7727 wrist watches news:
Hi all, I don't know how I start to collect American vintage watches, but even I'm a beginner, I got to love them.Last arrived is a small Art Deco Ladies Benrus of '20 years. My concern is that is missing the Benrus on dial and the marks on mechanism seems to be manually made. It is a kind of fake, or a very early Benrus watch? What is your opinion? Thanks.Similar models and a "Gloria" Benrus ad from 1925:
Hi Everyone,This is my first post to this forum, so I'm hoping I'm doing it rightI've been working on watches as a hobby for a very few years. Don't claim any special skills or expert status.Anyhow, a couple of years ago, I bought two older automatic Swiss watches off the 'bay. Didn't pay much for them cause they weren't mint or anything like that. The Adria runs fine and keeps reasonably accurate time. The Temporis wasn't running at the time of purchase, and I assumed that it would need a good servicing. When I shook it to wind it, it would run for maybe five seconds, and stop. So, I chucked it into a dresser drawer. Got it out the other day, and it started and ran. Kept rather accurate time for about two days, then stopped again. So, I worked up the courage to look into it. I partially disassembled it and verified that the pivot fork and the gear that powers it was free spinning, and let the tension off the main spring. I put it back together and it started right up. Now, this was not
For the first time, I put in a bid on a non-working vintage. It looks like new, so if I can pick it up cheap and get it running without it costing an arm and a leg, it will be worth it.Here's the problem - I don't know of a reputable watch maker in Las Vegas. I'm considering shipping it to someone for repairs, or at least for an estimate. So, anybody know someone good and honest in Las Vegas, or that I could ship it to without being worried about being taken to the cleaners?I'll add that there's one place in Las Vegas that's had a watch of mine for well over a year without any results yet. It's an inexpensive Timex Electronic, but it was a gift on my 10th birthday and the brown dial looks as good as new. It runs, but loses hours per day, and a battery only lasts about a month. I'm thinking of getting it back and taking it somewhere else.
Guess I am out. Out of my reach....Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
