Back To The Basics With German Nomos Watches
On goes the stream of German watches that adorn these pages. I simply cannot cease mentioning the bounty of impressive watches coming out of German. Nomos is one of Germany's more established and recognizable watches. They are built in the Glashutte (Glashuette) region of Germany, but should not be confused with other watches which display the "Glashutte" name, which is merely a region. Thus, Glashutte Original, and Muhle Glashutte are different watches.Each Nomos watch has a similar look, and most each model is a hand-wound manually operated mechanical movement. Wonderfully enough, Nomos produces it's own movements which is places in most watches. This is incredible given the average price of Nomos watches are between $1,500 and $2,500. To some, the fact that some Nomos Watches are hand-wound is a detriment. Yes, you do have to spend the time winding the watches each day, but the watches are very thin. Seiko 7006-7017: Back from the dead...sorta
Well I dug out my grandpa's old watch (well one of his old watches that made its way into my hands back when I was probably in elementary school, I'm 27 now). The watches band is broken and it never worked. When I was little I scratched the back of the case while opening it. Well advance over ten years to today. I opened her up again (good thinking on my part as a kid since I left the back only semi tightened after I realized I couldn't fix her and put it back on) and took a look inside. Well after some poking around I got her running. The automatic thingy (sorry don't know the jargon) had come unscrewed, so basically I just screwed her on and BAM! she was up and running. Now I just need to find out if I can get the band fixed. The "crystal" is scuffed and cracked really bad. This was my grandpas work watch up on the Alaska pipeline (Prudhoe Bay and elsewhere). Nautilus Braclet to Strap
Chaps, I am trying to find out the exact route to change a bracelet 5726 to a strap version.My understanding is that the end-links are different on the 5726 strap vs the 5726 bracelet; therefore, the Patek strap won't fit.Does anyone know the route to made this modification and can anyone give me a list of suppliers for a quality strap.My assumption is that someone will be making an after-market strap that fits the end links on the 5726 bracelet and therefore, all you'd need to do is purchase a deployant from Patek. Any and all advice welcome! TIA
