Ok, there are actually two questions I wanted to ask. I suppose I can really turn this into to two threads, but the sake of keeping things simple, I'll keep the questions short and sweet. Question 1How do you guys feel about servicing, particularly with respect to vintage watches? As most of you'll know, buying vintage watches, whether it's online or from a retail store, almost always mean taking a gamble on the condition of the movement, because one never knows the service history of these watches. I suppose the general rule also applies to any second hand watch, even if it's only a couple of years old. Now most vintage watches I've bought all seem to keep time fine. I've not bought anything with a rusty movement or with obvious signs of defect. Yet I know most of these watches probably haven't been serviced to 10+ years. If I intend to use the watch on a regular basis, should I get it serviced immediately? Or should just I keep using something totally goes bad, like time keeping beco

OK Rolex fans.We have a great bunch of Rolex fans here. Knowledgeable, friendly, and with a ton of Rolex knowledge. However, we always do better when it comes to discussions, especially value-add discussions that get a lot of member participation & adds educational value to newbies and oldies alike. So, I'm opening the door to spit-balling what you'd all like to see.What kind of topics, discussions, insight, etc would you like to see? What kind of discussions would get your interest & spark participation? Let's talk about it. Reply with thoughts on what would be good to see. Should this defect be a 'no deal'? Or no big deal! ?
I have been searching for this watch for months. I decided I wanted it right when Omega discontinued it. :(Problem is, the listing says 88% good, 'lume flake on the dial'.Is this going to really be a big deal being able to read the time?I was so impatient waiting to find this watch, I did buy the 36mm but I don't LOVE it. And even though I love the lume, it doesn't say bright very long and I don't look at it much. I mostly just check the time in the daylight.And I want it for daily wear and perfection and future value in this used watch isn't all that important to me. Patek Philippe 5167 (XL 40 mm) Aquanaut
Since I saw recently a few posts about Patek and the Aquanaut , here's my contribution.I must say that I did not like the Aquanaut nor the Nautilus 3 years ago.But your mind can change :)4 Months ago when the introduced the new 5167 I had the impression I could like that watch.I liked the dial a lot more than the previous dial.So I called my dealer and ordered one.I september 2007 I got the call. I went to his store, tried the watch ... and bought it.It's gorgeousImo you can wear it as a dress watch (with the leather strap) and as a sportswatch with the original rubber strap.The finishing is like one would expect from Patek : PERFECTThe movement is the 315 (which will be rare).Only the first 2 or 3 months they were delivered with the 315, all the others in the years to come will have the calibre 324Anyway, here are some pics

Rolex Oyster Perpetual 36mm or 39mm?
Hey guys,I have been saving for a while and have hit around the halfway mark for buying a Rolex Oyster Perpetual! I am super excited. However, I'm uncertain of whether to go for the 39mm or 36mm? I have a 17.5cm (6.8) wrist and I am 25 year old male who works in a corporate environment. I don't like my watches to be too flashy, I prefer the stealth wealth look. Will the 36mm be too small for my wrist? The 39mm is definitely on my mind, however, I'm not really a big fan of the blue dots in the dail, above the hours.any advice or opinions would be appreciated :)Thank you!
