Last August, I spent some time with the CT Scuderia City Racer. A large, aggressive bullhead chronograph with lots of cool design elements that distinguished it from much of what else we've seen. Most notably, was its large, multi-part case, which clearly illustrates the relationship between a "bullhead" design and a stopwatch. Finalists For The 2014 Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Geneve Announced, Public Vote Now Open (Where You Can Win A Girard-Perregaux!)
It's that time of year! Yup, the finalists of the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Geneve (GPHG) have been announced. For those who don't remember, the GPHG is the watch industry's equivalent of the Academy Awards, wherein a group of distinguished judges comprised of collectors (think John Goldberger and John Mayer), retailers (think Laurent Picciotto), watchmakers (think Philippe Dufour) and journalists (think our own Ben Clymer) decide on who has done the most to advance watchmaking this year. Today, the finalists for each category have been announced. The winners will be announced on Friday, October 31st, 2014, in Geneva. A fun little project I just finished putting together!
I picked up this minerva set of chronograph movement, dial, hands, crown and stem a while back with the thought of making this come to life.I had this nice little burl wood lathed box made and some brass finishings, along with a long tube for activating the chronograph since this would be a difficult task given the distance between crown and movement. I also had the stem elongated for this reason.Here is how it turned out along with a rough step by step

Now that that 15400 has been out for about 6 years, what are the chances that AP will update the Royal Oak soon? Perhaps at Basel 2018?
