Would paying with cash get me a lower price at the AD?
Last time i visited the AD in Florida, they were very nice and offered me 18% off retail price because I was so young and hoped to keep me as a customer for life (this tactic would indeed work as I tend to stay loyal to stores/salespeople who treat me well). My question is to whether you feel the dealer would accept an offer from me if I told them to kick my discount up to 22% at which point I would give them the money in its entirety via cash in my pocket. My dad swears by this tactic with everything he buys, although he has never used it to buy a watch. He tells me this works in two ways: 1. My other method of payment would be credit card, and the dealer has to pay somewhere between a 4-5% service charge to the credit card company, thus cash would solve that problem. 2. People have a harder time turning down a reasonable offer when they know or see that the actual money is right there in front of them ready to be exchanged. Book review: A grand complication
I just finished reading "A GRAND COMPLICATION", written by New York Time best selling author Stacy Perman. It is the story of a Patek Phillippe pocket watch commissioned in 1919 by capitalist Henry Graves Jr. "The Graves Super Complication" as it became known later sold at auction in 1999 for $11 million at Sotheby's. When I first saw the book on the shelf in the New Arrivals section of my local Library, I had to check it out, you just don't see that many books with watches on their covers that are well, actually about watches. Perman does a good job telling the story of Henry Graves Jr. The capitalist that commissioned the watch known as "The Graves Super Complication" and James Ward Packard, Industrialist and inventor of the Packard Motor car. She defines the culture of both men and what led them to commission and acquire the watches they did. For me, even being a history buff, these first few biographical chapter were a little slow. Hi everyone,With the new PO being released, will there be any worries getting service or parts 30 years down the road as the website says they will guarantee service for 20 years upon it being discontinued. I know it's a ridiculous question, but is it stupid of me to try and get rid of this watch and get the new one? Just thinking down the road when I hand it off to my kids. Thanks

5711 l-1A-010 or 5164-001 in my situation
Too many Aquanauts?I currently have a 5167-1A-001 (SS) and am looking to add a rubber strap watch collection. I love the look and functionality of 5164A-001 but adding another Aquanaut seems to be too much or is it? However, I must say I have (3) different Rolex Daytona's - RG, TT, SS. Is it strange?I also want to add 5711-1A-010 to my collection but most likely can only get from a grey market. I can get a 5164 from a AD. I want both 5711 and 5164 just as much - would you get a watch in grey market and pay a premium or just wait or forget it?Regards,Hotshot888
