Review: My Sinn 857
pic from watchbuys:Five weeks ago, my Sinn 857 arrived. I attended a GTG a few months back and met online icons like Idle Swede and many others. And I met my first Sinn that day, several in fact.Fast forward and I am shopping for a durable pilot's watch with classic looks. I looked at several, and the finals come down to a Sinn 856 or 857.Recognizing that I didn't have a single watch with a Bezel, and the fact that this watch kept speaking to me, I went for the 857 as soon as the govt told me they were sending me some extra money (or should I say, sending me some of my money back;)Below is my review of my Sinn 857.Case/Bezel/Crown: Made of tegimented steel, it is hardened to 1200 vickers, said to be 6 times harder than 316L. It is supposed to be virtually scratch proof, and I hope it will be. The case is not shiney at all, but more of a sweet MATTE grey. Hello everyone,I'm really bummed and would like your comments and knowledge on this.Last night I decided to put my SA on a leather strap, and proceeded to remove the bracelet. When I did so, I noticed the watch was a bit dirty between the lugs, so I washed it with a bit of soap at the bathroom sink. Before doing this, I made completely sure the crown was fully screwed in. After the wash, I dried the watch with a towel AND some soft toilet paper. After this, I unscrewed the crown to wind the watch and set the right time and date. All went well and my SA looked terrific on leather. This morning, however, after wearing the watch out in the sun, I noticed condensation underneath the crystal! Needless to say my heart sank. The condensation actually formed in the shape of the chronographs and hands. The only way I can imagine water may have gotten into the watch is when, AFTER drying the watch with a towel AND toilet paper, I unscrewed the crown to set the time and date. Has this ever happen
